Recapped the display on a powerbook 145, replaced one of the caps on the inverter and replaced the display cable with a new one. But I only get the backlight, nothing is displayed on the screen. I checked for continuity between each pad and trace for the caps and all were good. Any ideas what i should take a look at?

It does chime and it does boot into the OS as I can hear Mac OS make some noises
OK that's a great sign. Are you able to verify that your cables are all connected properly? You say the cable itself is new, so that shouldn't be an issue (provided it's making good contact). Post photos of your LCD and the ribbons that go from the boards around the LCD to the glass panel itself.
