There was some activity when I wiggled the connection in testing, so I quickly and gently reflowed the solder on the ribbon cable, but now nothing but a dead section. You can see the dead section in the photo - this display also needs new polarizing film - but that's another matter.

Any suggestions on troubleshooting or sources for a LM64P58 or LM64P582 replacement - I'm going to dry it out for a few days - perhaps I was too vigorous in cleaning.

Otherwise this PB160 is coming back nicely - would love to find a screen for it, the chassis is in great condition.

Likely a failed driver IC or cap juice corroding the ribbon that goes from the driver board to the glass panel itself.
I got some signal poking it with a plastic spudger so seems just about right. If I come across a parts LCD I'll try and transplant one of the driver/buffer IC ribbons to it.

Yeaaa - I don't think thats going back together:

It's interesting how the tiny traces (left side of photo) were bonded to the glass - I heated them with my reflow air and peeled it off - seems like enough of the traces are there that if they could be readhered they might work again in a transplant scenario. Maybe I'll remove another one that I know is working and try to hot-bond reattach it and see if that section of screen still works, but I bet the bonding process isn't repeatable.

edit: better shot of the glass - in case anyone is interested:

Best price I ever managed to find for those displays was here:

https://www.yoycart.com/Product/574060630467/
or

I still haven't purchased one myself though.
Hard pressed to find many good experiences buying from yoycart - caveat emptor:
