Hi Folks.

I have 3 powermac G4. I was thinking about upgrading the MDD to a better graphics card.

I know ppl usually use PC equivalents flashing them to become Mac compatible.

I’ve been searching the net but I could not find a list of the cards that would work on the Mac. Does anyone know of a list of common PC Cards I’d use as is or by flashing it?

Thanx

The first question to ask is what OS do you want to run - 9 or OSX? For 9, that would be the 9000 that may already be in your MDD or maybe a Ti4600 if you can find one. If you're running OSX, something like a ATI Fire GL x3 or X800/850 series can work. Over on MR forums, I recall alot of folks having issues with their flashed 800 series cards artefacting and defective components but they can work evidently. Anyways, For a compatibility chart, general instruction and roms, The Mac Elite wiki is a good resource. I'd also read up at the macrumors PowerPC forum - lots of discussion & good information on this topic there over the past decade or so. For flashing, I used graphiccelerator which was handy for me ( successfully flashed a 64mb visiontek 7000pci for use in my B&W with a reduced rom from macelite) as it operates within OSX, so I didn't have to break out a dosbox but there are DOS flashing utilities for Nvidia and ATI on macelite also if that is better for you. Anyhow, best of luck to you :)
