I have a genuine Mac edition Radeon 9200 128MB PCI video card that I cannot get to work in this computer. I have tried all 3 PCI slots. Every set of drivers both official and patched that I have tried have the same issue. The mouse cursor moves around, but I cannot click on any menus or icons on the desktop. The logic board is a Beige Power Macintosh G3 Revision 2 with a Revision C ROM. I have also tried on an older Revision 1 motherboard with a Revision A ROM and gotten the same results. The problem appears to the the ATI 8500 3D Accelerator extension. When I remove that I can click on icons and menus again. I think this extension is needed for full operation of the video card. I tried the official ATI January 2005 plus the July 2005 update drivers for OS 9 from ATI. I tried the patched drivers for Mac OS9 Lives Mac Mini G4 OS 9.2.2 as that also has a Radeon 9200 onboard video. Any help on this would be greatly appreciate.

Thanks!

I finally threw in the towel trying to get the video card working on OS 9. That being the case I did the next best thing. I installed a Sapphire Radeon 7000 64MB PCI card. That is working just fine and is at least much better than the Rage Pro Turbo 6MB onboard video.

Probably the best approach, but what about the card wasn't working with the 8500 extension not loaded?
The 2D performance of the card was extremely slow, much slower than the onboard video. The video acceleration was not working even when it was supposedly enabled. The card works just fine under OS X, so I know the card itself is just fine. It just did not play nice with OS 9.
