Found out yesterday that the battery in my Radius 81/110 leaked at some point in the last couple of years. Doesn't appear to have exploded, though I can't get to it for another year or so, in week nine of rotator cuff surgery and that thing is well and truly buried! I'll be able to lift the Luggable off its outrigger shelf well before then, but there is no friggin' way I'm humping that Macintosh Portrait Display off its support on the AppleDisplayUnit until my shoulder's fully recovered...
... or that armored tank of a Clone off the floor and onto the bench for that matter.

Not too worried about the case sitting like that until I can lift the portrait dsiplay, but concerned more about the Quadra 950 behind it.
How much worse might my board get in that time? Thankfully I snagged a spare off the 'Bay some twenty years ago, so no need to wait for an 8100 reloaded project board to modify, LOL?

I could probably rework an 8100/110 board easily enough, the video connector is the only real difference I think? Only the two switches and edge of those banks of memory seem to be involved. No need for schematic either, as that should be easy enough to noodle out, even I didn't have the cherry board to buzz. TMS44400DJ-7 is available Fast Page DRAM, they used that crap in the 8100 in place of VRAM? That'd be a real step down from earlier Macs, no?

Oh well, never got around to updating the pastel phase blue paint on the bottom shelf to the brighter hues above it, so that'll be nice along with eliminating the cutouts for air return duct from it and the purple slice of the rainbow. Working with a new sheet of MDF will take less time and probably money than reviving the "new" backup board.

Has anyone tried piggybacking chips to double the available video memory on the NuBus PPC Mac boardss?

Given support for differing amounts of avaiable page buffer memory on the PDS cards, it might be worth looking into? In POST the system determines the amount available for output on the PDS card, so just maybe it would poll the quantity available in the onboard banks for use as well?
