I have a flyback from an SE/30 with exactly such a broken bar. I replaced that flyback from a NOS flyback I purchased way back around 2006. Sadly, nobody makes these anymore, and it's really sad because the flyback is the SINGLE MOST NEEDED COMPONENT of any on the SE and SE/30 Analog boards.

Supposedly, it's structural, not electrical. That bar makes sure the Flyback doesn't vibration itself into oblivion. A broken bar flyback may work fine all the time, may work fine only sometimes, or may never work at all.

Of course, many of us have multiple Analog Boards so we can use it least one as PARTS. So if you were able to swap flybacks, even for a temporary time, in order to test, then such could determine if the flyback alone is the root of your problems to date.

Maybe I'll buy one of the salvage analog boards from eBay and see what happens. I could always resell it to add it back to the available supply. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know when I make the swap.

It won't come as a surprise, but @JDW was 100% correct again. The replacement analog board with the non-broken flyback transformer came in the other day. First, I swapped in the whole board, but there was significant jittering at startup and the display was very dim. Checking online, this apparently is caused by failing capacitors. I did the flyback swaparoo and my machine is now bright and stable. Thank you all, once again, for all of your help.
