(TW: anxiety inducing cable mess)

In 2011, when I moved into an appartment with my girlfriend, she wanted us to tackle cable management. In my head, it was a 'let's buy 1 thing and get it done, anytime you want'.

...

Fast forward into 2022, we've since then re-moved into an house (2015) and it still hasn't been tackled.....until NOW.

I present a photo that's about 2 years old of what I started with:

I started going at it seriously a few weeks ago and I'm about to finish it all. When it's done, I'll repost with the final results. But here are some recent photos of the cable spaghetti monster I had to deal with:

Last shot being an "honest" point of view. My main goal was to bring the unruly mess of noodles in check and allow super easy vacuuming. A bonus objective was to keep it malleable and not require 3 thousand unwanted steps if something has to be moved or swapped. Every power strip and cable channel is either velcroed underneath or it's a plastic tab that can be opened/closed for easy access.

I've also started to keep my Mac Plus unplugged because of RIFA cap concerns; I replaced them in one of my Pluses but not the other (because it was out of spec according to the known value...). I also keep my Kawai MIDI module unplugged (and velcroed!), otherwise it becomes lukewarm ?!
