I never knew this was possible

But now that I do, I think it would be really cool to run MacOS on my NeXT Station. So, it seems this requires an external box that connects to the DSP port and has an LC ROM in it. It was called the DayDream. Any chance someone has one of these and could open the box to see how easy it would be to create a modern replica?

Greetings. You might want to check out posts on nextcomputers.org. Although some time back, there were some NeXT diehards working on such a project. Running 68k Mac software is possible without the box itself -- driven by software. Get in contact with Rob Blessin from Blackhole, Inc for information.

The project was a success, and if I recall correctly, some of the original Daydream developers pitched in to help see it through. The result was called "Darkmatter", and that search term should help get you to the resources and instructions you need.
