Safe way to do a Post-recap Power Supply Smoke Test?

I'm finishing up recapping my SE/30's power supply. This is not my first re-cap, but my first for a power supply. Is there a way to "smoke test' this without hooking it up to the Mac's analog board? While I will double check all my replacement cap's polarity and values, I'd like to avoid drama inside these very pricey SE30's.

You could at least power it up disconnected and put a meter on the pins to check voltages. If it is a Sony, it may be nice to do that before putting the cover on so you can turn the adjustment pot to set voltages where you want to account for reduction with load.

Thanks. Yes, it's the Sony CR-44. I did a little research and in case someone else stumbles on this thread I'm including the section on testing the power supply before you reinstall in Larry Pina's Classic & SE Repair and Upgrade Secrets and adjusting the p.s. from Douglass High's 1992 Troubleshooting your Macintosh.
