SE/30 mobo repair - any service providers?

Hello Tinkerers,

I have an SE/30 motherboard which (long story short) I brought from my home country because it suffered from simasimac. I did not bring the entire Mac for obvious reasons.
I have no experience soldering and unfortunately this is a little bit too difficult for a beginner; thus, I need to outsource a couple repairs and final testing.

It has already been cleaned and recapped; and as you can see in the pics, it seems to be in overall good condition (it worked fine until not that long ago). It had some cap leak damage but no battery leak. It needs the following:

1) Soldering an "old-new" ASC chip that I have bought (the old one's pins were too corroded to be saved). Perhaps, even socket it!

2) Fixing or replacing UB12 since it's missing a pin

3) Testing (and fixing any lingering issues on a best-effort basis). If you have the Peeker board + the Reconnaissance software to help you, that'd be optimal.

I need a knowledgeable person who has the needed tools and experience to fix my childhood mac. If that person is you, please kindly contact me!

If you're not in a hurry, CayMac Vintage is another good option, but he will use a Reloaded SE/30 board, instead of repairing your original board: https://ko-fi.com/caymacvintage/commissions

If no one else will help you with this, it's possible I can. I have all of the tools, ultrasonic cleaner, and a TechStep, and have fixed a few SE/30's and SE's recently, but it's always a bit of a gamble concerning repair, being that if a chip is bad, it can take a while to source a good replacement, and the time it takes can pile up.

I also have an excellent condition, newly recapped and fully tested SE/30 board, that I could sell you and take your old board and ASC/parts as a partial payment.

It is generally worth mentioning where in the world you are if you're looking for something like this as international shipping can be expensive.

Hi GreenBarOn, thank you so much for these pointers. I will try them in the order you mention. My intention is to try to save the original board if at all possible; but we’ll see how far that goes!

I'd also add that you definitely should remove that battery. If it hasn't leaked yet, it might be good and dried out, but why take a chance to keep system time and your mouse speed settings!

Every SE/30 I've worked on has had cap leakage under the caps. Most of them also had traces damaged from it and needed bodge wires to correct. You might be OK with just an ultrasonic cleaning to clean the electrolytic off the board (they can cause a short). But SE/30's are valuable enough to warrant just recapping with organic polymer caps to keep safe in the future.
