Already checked out continuity on those which is ok. I will definitely go back over them. Need an oscilloscope to see or maybe just replace them. This is one of those 50 boards Colin ordered so I've just assumed (I know..) those factory installed chips were less likely to be the issue. But if that's where things are pointing, I get it. Thanks!
Oh that is one of those boards. I assumed the diodes you changed on the bottom? From my experience doing over 70 SE30 reloaded boards, sockets for plcc suck. Many times, the chip legs are very bad and do not make contact in the socket. I have tried sockets and many times, I end up removing them and doing direct solder. To me it sounds like you are having a memory issue in the first few K of memory. A few people have send me their Colin boards to fix and most of the time, it was one of the diodes either not soldered well or one was not replaced. Another item to check is if all the birdseed on the bottom is there. Look to see if any items were knocked off by accident. It happens. Should you give up, last resort, I’ll look it over if you wish just cover shipping.

Thanks very much Will. That's very kind of you. Yes, the diodes have been replaced. Suspecting sockets as well. I'm going through and checking continuity on all socketed chips from the chip leg to the socket pin and from the socket pin to destinations. I'm gonna check all of that and send it to you to take a look if I can't figure it out in a month or so. Promise not to make it worse in the meantime...Much appreciated.

Any update? Be sure 16mb ram is not in bank A and use a good rom.
Here's what I've got so far. I included UK11 in this chart because I'm getting different results with it out, so not sure if there is some relevance there. All of this RAM and ROM works fine on other boards. The Rominator with 4x1mb simms was interesting because it played the happy immediately followed by the sad chime at boot. Also checked the birdseed and all of that looks intact. Still going back over continuity for various things including the 74 series and resistor packs...Thanks.

well now I'm really confused. After doing nothing more than putting deoxit in the reset switch (it was from the bombed board), I'm getting a very distorted chime... it sounds like Hendrix at Woodstock! ..with the stock ROM and 4X1mb or 4x16mbsimms...I'm at the point where I don't think any of these conclusions mean much. I just need an oscilloscope to maybe see what is actually at fault.
