Ive received a number of them over the years. All of them shipped in tight/form fitting sections of dense foam in such a way that they did not move. Also, the panel wasnt directly up on the box. The boxes used while not huge, were always big enough to provide open space around the lcd. The foam pieces came in contact with the box and held the LCD in place. I keep the LCD boxes I get so should have one around here that I can show a pic of.

Hello my friend!

Its my experiences that LCD-monitors are best shipped with Original Foam Inserts!
Very true! If you dont have them, you can create custom inserts with a stiff high density foam, some scissors and hot glue.

These are the boxes from the monitors in my office. They, instead of styrofoam, have molded cardboard & HD foam inserts. When shipped, the stand is off and those inserts suspend the lcd in the middle of the box, so at no point does it come in contact with or rest on the shipping box itself.

Below is an example of my wife’s office monitors. This one uses hard styrofoam to accomplish the same thing.

If the lcd didn’t have its original box I’d ship it in a similar shaped box as I can find and fashion similar protection from HD foam capping the edges + thinner sheets of foam (thin styrofoam is great here) on the panel itself and a filler like packing foam peanuts (yuck I know) to fill any odd shaped spaces - the point to immobilize the lcd panel in the center of the shipping box so it doesn’t move or shift in transit and is reasonably protected from accidental pokes while not adding much weight.
