I just received my full 040 I bought from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/323076959423

It seems to be the real deal. @Bolle noticed that it's a fake L88M in a post further down. The left side "-001" indicates it's an E31F and not an L88M, which would have "-104". The markings are engraved on the ceramic top so it doesn't seem to be a re-badge and it definitely has an FPU. And it's benching and chugging along just fine on my Mystic CC @ 33Mhz. Soon as I get my VRAM, I'll OC to 40Mhz.

This mask/revision is supposed to be the latest and coolest running version.

Can you please upload a good quality photo of the top and bottom. I wanted to buy one and the ones pictured on that auction look fake AF.

Actually, had to install a new battery. Here is a picture of the CPU installed.

Unfortunately that's as fake as it gets.
The chip you've got there is very likely a E31F mask one. You can tell by the package ID on the bottom left... all E31F chips I have seen so far end in -001 just like yours.
L88M chips will have -104 there.

Nevertheless most if not all E31F chips will run just fine at 40MHz.

Awww shieet. So they have a way to "engrave" the ceramic with a laser or something?

Ah, well. It's got an FPU and if it runs @ 40Mhz, I'm ok with it. Not planning to go over that.

Edited the OP to reflect the fakery. Is there a tool for the Mac to read the revision? I recall the CT60 accelerator for the Atari Falcon was able to read the revision of the 060 from the chip...
