Just finished watching the final final last night, and enjoyed it. I was trying not to be too critical of plot or whatever and just enjoy the characters I came to love over the course of the show. I was a bit older than they were in those years, being in college when the show started, and already on my first Mac. But it seemed to me the Duffer bros mixed in some mid 70;'s life experience (and bicycle styles) into the show mostly set in the 80's.
Anyway, I can't be reminiscent about those days and not be reminiscent about my early computing days, so here we go. I did not game that much on my original Mac or the SE I had. I still can't remember if I had a SE or a SE/30. I just used it mostly for word processing and legal research at my job at the appellate courts in Tacoma, WA, and later at my first firm job.
When I went out on my own and got a Performa (yeah, I know. But it worked for me. I remember ignoring the reviews as I knew it would do what I needed it to and the price point worked for me), I did a little more gaming, mostly Myst, and a few other things. and enjoyed those Launch Cd-Rom mags with music, videos, game demos, etc. And have lightly but not seriously gamed ever since. Being nostalgic for Myst was the other reason I got the vintage itch.
Now I am interested in doing back and messing around with vintage games from the late 80's (SE/30 era) and the original Myst 90's era, just to check it out. AND, also due to Stranger Things, check out the DnD games of the era, though I did not play other than checking it out with a friend for a day or so, back in the time. May also try to find an early version of the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy game I messed with back then.
