Texas Instruments discontinuing a lot of IC's

This is more of a heads up - if you're building any Reloaded boards, please now be aware that TI have been curtailing their product lines, so things like the SN75150 (replaces the MC3488 in the SE Reloaded) & SN75175 RS-422/RS-485 serial interface IC's used in the SE/30 Reloaded and more, are going EoL!

Likewise a lot of 'D' package (SO SMD parts) are being NLA'ed, like 74-series logic.

Grab some from mouser while you can!

AHHHH! I'm not smart enough to know what "and more" means.

Does anyone have a list of part numbers for chips that are needed for these reloaded projects that aren't already found on the donor logic board?

And more meaning - used in things like the IIci, IIsi etc - the 75175 is pretty ubiquitous in earlier 68k macs.

@Kai Robinson I came across this thread while looking for replacement SN75175 for my SE/30

Reading the data sheet, it looks like SN75175DR is the same chip, only packaged in tape & reel? It looks like only the tube packaged part was made obsolete. Am I wrong? This is only the 2nd time I've ever tried to order an IC

To my untrained eye, Page 14 of the data sheet says only difference between SN75175D and SN75175DR is how they are packaged. I was hoping someone with more knowledge could confirm. Thanks!

Does your SE reloaded build not require UC12/UB12 ? I don't see any mention of those chips - the SN75175 chips brought up in the first post of this thread. Thanks!

Very interesting. I merely read the opening post where Kai said "any Reloaded boards" and just assumed that word "any" included his SE Reloaded board too. But per your request, after searching my BOM like mad, I do not see any reference to UC12 and UB12 or the SN75175 part number. So it would appear this thread may not impact SE Reloaded.

My Mouser Cart is here. I currently have only the following 3 Texas Instruments chips listed in that Cart:

None of them show EOL, Discontinued or anything of the sort.

Can you quote any source? TI still lists the 75175 as active…

The MC3488 was replaced with the SN75150.

That's component U4D on the Mac SE motherboard. I've been using the SN75150P on my BOM and Mouser Cart, and currently it's not EOL'd by Mouser yet. The TI product page also shows it as "Active."
