TiBook Screen Assembly - the forbidden split?

Hi,

I just wondered if anyone here had successfully split and re-bonded a Titanium Powerbook G4 screen assembly without ruining the shells. I have one with a really good lid that has a wonky LCD panel and I was wondering if I could split it to either fix the issue or replace the panel but I am really not confident about it as the halves are glued together.

All suggestions welcome.

After multiple failed attempts, I gave up on trying to rescue the shells and instead bought NOS shells (and, in some cases, bezels) from Sunshine Express Inc (sunshineex) on eBay. Not cheap, but the end result was pretty good. Right now, I see only the bezels in their eBay store.
