Five years ago group of tinkerers launched a new site for people like us who wanted to share their projects, connect with new people in a community with dedicated moderation team, a governance board, backups, and welcome everyone no matter if you're a 50 year veteran or someone who didn't even grow up with these old things we tinker with.

I'm very proud of our progress towards our goals and community we've built. Our forum is active and has very interesting projects centered here. Our Discord is active and having a ton of cool conversations.

Looking forward we'll keep doing more of the same - create an inviting, moderated, archived community of tinkerer's.

I'll be doing the archive.org backup of the offline version based off 11/1/2026's backup tonight so the past 5 years of content will never be lost. Cadence will be yearly updates after that.

Oh one last thing - I'm really proud we're sustainable via member donations to our kofi. We've had some large donations by a few members recently that ensure can pay the bills for years to come. Thank you to everyone who's donated and if you want to chip in $5 the kofi link is on the main page.

Glad I could be part of getting this place started, it seems to be ticking along quite nicely and no outages or data loss in that whole time...!

I'm especially enjoying the bi-directional weekly LLM generated summaries posted both here and on discord.

I got back into the computers of my youth around the same time this site was launched, and was directed here shortly thereafter by a couple youtubers I was corresponding with. I'm glad I was. Even though I've learned a lot in the last 5 years, I'm still constantly in awe of what some of you create and accomplish :)

More than happy to be a part even from the early days! It's great to be part of a community that welcomes everyone, regardless of their knowledge level.
