Similar to the recent posts about Infinite Mac where you can run many different vintage mac operating systems I just stumbled across Virtual x86 - https://copy.sh/v86/

You can select pre-built profiles of Windows 1.01/3.1/95/98/2k, DOS, and some older Linux machines and run them right in your browser. You can load a floppy or CD rom and they are not uploaded to the server but read locally in your browser.

My first use case:

try to emulate Win98SE and get unstuck with my playthrough of the 7th Guest, by having an external control over mounted discs. Gonna have to prep a hard disk image though, or just reinstall the game through their stock win98se image. Then the patch, then copy over my game, then somehow swap discs at the critical moment.

Edit: oof, scratch that, it's been requested since freaking 2016!

Edit2: reading through the issues threads, my best bet is:

Start a session with disc 1 inserted, start the game, save the emulator session
alter the configuration to have disc 2
reload the altered saved state.

This is great! can finally play lots of minesweeper.

i was having trouble rightclicking. found its because of Safari. (even though it grabbed my mouse, right click still went to safari)

Switched to firefox and right click works fine. (prolly would also in chrome)

so that is, works better not in safari.

Attempt failure!

Either I run the Windows 98 profile and get a cookie cutter version where I can't decide which CDROM img is loaded

or I run a configurable setting where I have to set up a hard disk with my own install of windows 98 in the format they expect (not exactly sure which) and where I'm sure the CD-ROM image might load right but not the OS since I'm not ready!

Can't combine the best of both of these possibilities!
