Voodoo 3 / 3000 AGP… BX chipset?

Is there some fundamental compatibility issue with BX chipset boards and the Voodoo 3 / 3000 AGP video card? I was going to do a build for the recent slot one build off, but absolutely COULD NOT get video card drivers to install in Win98. :(

I tied the original driver CD off archive.org, as well as Phil’s Computer Lab’s driver archive… and had zero luck.

You might try some custom drivers found here which may differ. Another thing to keep in mind would be the unofficial Win98 update patch which may fix some compatibility issues. To double check, you also updated the chipset drivers for that motherboard after OS install?

Funny you should ask, our school had RM Pentium 3 PC’s based on the AOpen (remember them?) 440BX boards and most had a 3dfx Voodoo 3 AGP in them (a few had Riva TNT2’s) and there never seemed to be any issues, on Windows 98SE.

I have a 440BX system with a Voodoo3 3000 AGP in it and it works great! FWIW, I had problems getting the card running properly until I installed the 440BX chipset drivers.
