I have an SLA printer in the hopper, and I'm looking forward to starting to print some new parts for the many broken on my beige G3 desktop. I'm wondering if anyone has found good matches for color in a resin yet?!

I just did a cursory search for pantone 405nm resins and I regret to say there were zero relevant results. I would definitely be interested to hear if anyone else has more information.

I am wondering the same thing as well. I have seen those Pantone codes that were said to "match" with various Apple vintage cases. Back in the day, quality control was not taken seriously. So, the results varied and did not match exactly Apple's stringent design specifications for the colors.

This was clarified by one of the designers, Jerry Manock. He was the one who selected Pantone 453 for Apple's beige cases. I am working on finding the Pantone code for the platinum Snow White design language and other later Apple design languages.

I found some more information regarding the color code for the platinum color. What stood out was from an Apple's information document:

"Apple does not normally use PMS color charts or Pantone color numbers to designate the platinum color that is now the company standard. Our platinum color number on a coded PMS chart is between 420 and 421, somewhat closer to 421. (This depends on the age of the chart and the light source used for viewing it."
While a Pantone color was decided for the beige cases, Apple never officially followed through with an exact determination as it depended on many complex factors to control. However, it was close to specific color codes.

By the way, this is a good article about the colors of Apple.

I've been experimenting with some various colors - and I've found that the Rich Opto Grey to be pretty close to the Snow White color - I'll try and get a photo of it next to a couple of lc's and with a very yellowed G3 just for good measure here and upload it later.

Okay! Looking forward to that. :)(y)

Well, here are the examples. I'm not sure I'd recommend this resin however. I'm very new to SLA printing, so take this with a grain of salt (my brother does print professionally so I have some help in this) but I'm struggling to get quality prints from it - it's tending to pull away from lower supports on my normal settings and it's taking forever to dial in something that works consistently. I'll update if that improves, but here's the color references! You can see the Beige G3 is pretty yellowed, but if you compare it to the badge (which isn't yellowed as badly) it should be a very close match 😀

Possibly, my brother users alcohol based inks to add to resins to adjust the color - so it's definitely something to try... I'm just trying to get my prints dialed in right now and get some pieces I need printed before I move onto color matching more!
