Power Mac 9600 has joined my team. The Mac I longed for when I was young. Apple has bestowed the glory of just 3 months.86539B3E-50B6-4959-BD40-30406B00384D.jpeg

Cool Mac!

It's not as fast as your 666 Mhz SE/666. :sneaky::devilish:

I see your Q700 up there! :D

@Kai Robinson Yeah, these RAMs aren't cheap. ACARD AEC-6260M (not 6280M) and SD card or CF card drive are recommended. Very fast when using a 120MB/s flash drive.

@retr01 My 9600 has a G4 card, which are not bad. Spare parts that are more than 20 years old are useful, so it feels strange.

It just occurred to me about the short product life of many Macs during the 1990s before the return of Steve Jobs to Apple. In the early 1990s. Apple's management and finances became so bad that Apple had trouble maintaining so many Mac models and segments. Like PM 9600, Macintosh IIvi, and others only lasted four months or more or less.

Apple had a great computer system, but struggles were daily with mediocre company management. Finally, Steve Jobs cut off many things and made sure the efforts were focused on one or two segments and models at a time, starting with the iMac. Slowly, new products were added as the competencies were solid. Yet, the number of products and segments remains limited. Today, Apple is worth over $3 trillion since January 2022. 🤑
Wow I just realized there's a place to add a photo for documents, boy do I feel silly.
Salute 🖖

Thanks guys! :D
Apologies for the delayed reaction response -an attempt to stop more input processing at that time.

Still much work scheduled:
• excavating treasures of the past; archeological -software & bookmarks & handling these over to the Antiques Dealer for preservation.
• compiling game development resources of the past, for easy access -spurring a renewed wave of interest.
• researching the missing link requirements, bridging the past to the present -enabling vintage on modern systems.
• work collaboration on a new vintage website

I know you don't mind at all -me limiting myself for the time being.
The topic threads:
Reverse Engineer the Spectre GCR?
Macintosh SE or SE/30 Fan Bracket
are of great interest to me for future tinker ideas -these two are my current limit.

 Luv that Macintosh SE Reloaded by The Bearded Tinkerer ⚡;)
THE FLYBACK HAS BEEN LOCATED! For some reason the bag it was in, had been put in the 4th floor kitchen/canteen/bar area of the office i work in...uhhh...why, i don't know.

However, that means that fingers crossed, the Plus will be fixed soon!

Totally missed your comment! Better late than never?

I have literally *lost* the flyback transformer i received in the post. I had it, in a bag, and then i've put it down somewhere and it's been tidied away somewhere - goddammit >_<
My Mac-quisitions this week. I offered the seller of the Performa 636CD a hundred dollars for it, he agreed, and when we met he was including the eMac in the deal too! The Power Mac 5260/100 was offered on Craigslist for free because he was cleaning out his mom's house. I love spring cleaning! IMG_20220528_130221~2.jpg
Repairs are underway on 'the collection' - awaiting a flyback transformer from Dalbani - it must have taken a carrier pigeon to get here!
Here's an example of the Электроника Б6-03 — Elektronika B6-03 Digital LCD watch. This particular model, among three others, has arrived from Ukraine. It's the first of the three I've purchased which was in good enough condition to bring back to life. The other two were "battery bombed".

This watch has a "presidential" story, here's an excerpt from this nice article:

There is an anecdote, which seems to be true because it is referenced in many articles and comments , that during this last visit, Brezhnev showed an interest in the wrist watch that Kissinger wore, which was the Pulsar P2, which had gone into production in 1970 and was the first digital wrist watch with an LED display. It is not difficult to imagine Kissinger wearing a Pulsar on his wrist, since it was a very exclusive watch, expensive of course, and technologically advanced for the time. Kissinger kindly showed Brezhnev his watch from him, at which point Brezhnev explained that the USSR had already developed this technology, but they were not yet in a position to produce it on a large scale.

The next day, Brezhnev gave Kissinger a digital watch model, with the B6-02 LCD module. The US Secretary praised the Elektronika watch, while examining it closely. He was allegedly told it would be a magnificent model for export. However, Kissinger's concern was evident because he was unaware that the Soviet Union had CMOS technology , and this had serious implications. This meeting, so to speak, was the presentation of the Soviet Union in the field of digital watchmaking.

If you're interested, you can find more information about early Soviet digital watches in this forum post. For me, I'm just happy to have one that finally works... but I have to admit... there are more in the mail!
