Does anyone know anything about the bezel seen in this photo? It's from an auction on shopgoodwill.com and I've never come across a bezel like this for the Desktop G3 case before. I have an internal SCSI Jaz drive I've been planning to use without a cover plate because the disks are larger than the opening for the factory Zip disk cover. I've looked for custom plates before but nothing has ever turned up, so I'm very curious where this may have originated from.

In the photo it's hard to tell if the bezel is slightly misshapen, or if the zip drive is installed crooked. It doesn't look like it perfectly lines up which leads me to believe it's some sort of custom solution.

Wow, that looks like an aftermarket Zip drive to me. The bezel doesn’t look like it fits quite right along with the wonky drive in there hah. This link has a picture of what the zip bezel should look like for a beige g3 M6202LL/A. The bezel dimensions don’t look to match up and it’s missing the zip. It looks like a bezel for a standard 3.5 floppy spacing to me. I wonder what that came off too.

I got a new old stock bezel/bracket kit off eBay several years ago that looks just like that.

"DataStor Macintosh Zip/Jazz Mounting Bracket for G3 Desktop, 7200, 7300, 7500 and 7600 Machines"

Still have the box which has some info you might be interested in:

Here's a scan of the Installation Guide while I'm at it.

It'd be neat to have a version of this with the larger opening as an option. I know very little about 3D modeling/printing, unfortunately. Maybe just printing the blank and taking a dremel to it is this quickest route… 😆
That is a nice model that anyone can modify (@Stephen )... we would just need some measurements for the slot dimensions and height. There is a JAZ bezel on the other forum, but my membership has never been approved. Someone DL and reattach here?

Here is my attempt at a quick mashup. You may have to remove the front faceplate on the jaz drive to get the eject button to work. Maybe that is not even in play as an OS eject may work.

Sure, although I'm not exactly sure what to measure... perhaps the rectangular slot dimensions and its distance from the top and sides?
Probably the distance from the top of the drive to the top of the case (if even possible), or the distance from the bottom case to the bottom of the slot... just so we know how high to put the hole in the bezel. Maybe like these? Without the bezel in place, of course.

Got the calipers out... The top measure is 4.5mm. The bottom one is a bit trickier, with one side of the caliper square and flat in the opening and the other side at the absolute bottom of the bezel plastic (which is toward the back of the part, where the clip is that snaps it onto the case) is 35mm.

Ok, so this bezel lets the whole face of the drive be seen, vs the 9100/9500 type bezel that only lets the media slot be shown (original faceplate probably removed?). So please provide 3 more measurements: width and height of the hole, as well as the depth (both sides, as the bezel is curved).

The opening "hole" is 102mm wide by 25.5mm high. the width measured at each of the four corners of the hole is different.

Top Left: 8.75mm
Bottom Left: 10.85mm
Top Right: 10.75mm
Bottom Right: 12.45mm

Here is version 2 based on those measurements. Someone will have to print and test to see if adjustment is needed. Because you can see the entire face of the drive, I didn't think the JAZ logo needed to be recessed into the front.
