    Apple PC Compatibility Card (7" & 12") MS-DOS 6.22 / Windows 3.11 / Windows 95B / Windows 98SE Images

I've used the card in a B&W G3 running 8.5 and I've used it in a Motorola clone running 7.6.1 The idea here is to eliminate the Mac and see if the card is just bad.

I'd move the card to a different PCI PowerMac in your collection that is capable of running 7.6.1.

Sorry to misunderstand. If you use the DOS/Win3.1 image, are you able to run any of the higher end benchmarks (like the Quake timedemo) and not have the card crash?

    Apple PC Compatibility Card (7" & 12") MS-DOS 6.22 / Windows 3.11 / Windows 95B / Windows 98SE Images

The Win95 has issues... so that's likely not just your machine. How does the Win98 image work for you?

If your machine can handle it, install 7.6.1 to see if the issue is the OS or hardware. The Windows 95 image is especially wonky... just like Windows 95. Use the Windows 98 image, it's much more stable.

    MFM Floppy Drives?

Sorry. I should have clarified. The board in my photo is from a 4400... which is basically the board most of the clone machines. Save a buck however you can on the clones, right? I seem to remember reading something about the MFM prototypes not being about to read 800K floppies?

    MFM Floppy Drives?

There are unpopulated ICs on the board near the connector. I feel like that's somehow related.

Comm Slot II 10/100 Ethernet Cards

Depends on what you're doing... and how bad you want to save a PDS slot. A recent firmware update for BlueSCSI (RC2 "MARCHintosh Edition") significantly improves networking speeds.

    PowerBook power adapter compatibility?

From memory, Apple's advice in "the old days" was to NOT use the higher wattage PSUs with non-color PowerBooks (especially the active matrix models) because it could cause display damage. I'm sure the exact technical reasoning is buried in a tech note somewhere.
