This returned after a few years of being in a friend's possession. Daystar 100MHz Turbo 601. Is now inside the IIvx.
Paid $75 for it. Case looks like it was under another Mac that had a Maxell detonate, so there's some rust on the lid, plus on the rear wall of the chassis. It does power up, and did go to the bliking question mark when the seller powered it up. No PRAM battery, so that's good. Probably will need a recap sometime soon, since Apple switched back to electrolytics with the 7100. 1GB hard drive that was unformatted when the computer arrived. Now formatted and will have 7.6.1 on it until I make another 8.1 or 8.6 install CD.
Nice, I got one of those back in the 'fritter days. It's been living in one of my Quadra 700 cases since then.
Ah, the 7100/66? That's cool. Kind of a shame that Apple went away from the Wombat configuration board with the 8100 series. Looks like this machine may need either some major surgery on its board or a board swap (see my last post in the What Did You Do To Your Apple/Mac Today thread over at the MLA for the gory details). Had hoped that an 8100 board would work in place of the 7100 board. Alas, no.

I'm rather fond of the 7100 since I used one to edit the university newspaper as a grad student until I talked the dean of students into buying a brand spanking new Sawtooth G4/450. I managed to get it from surplus and stuck an HPV card, a G3, max RAM and a better CD-ROM in it. Naturally I call it the "SR-7100."
I may wind up popping in a G3 accelerator into mine, once I've a better board. After all, the IIvx is equipped with a faster 601 than the 7100 is.
Not actually a 7100/80AV. Reused the HPV card from the 7100/66, which I retired.
Other items I received between early 2025 and now:
- Quadra 650 logic board with bad internal SCSI - hoping it can be combined with the board I have installed in my Q650 to make one good board
- M3501 keyboard
- Mid-2012 MacBook Pro with 2.7GHz i7 processor (this one turned out to be kind of a dud, as per my thread on the other forum - am now rehoming it and have returned to my Late 2011 machine)
And, most recently, a Laserwriter IIf.

Hand-held calculators were the portable mathematical workhorses of choice before smart phones came on the scene, but they are still useful today as most exams do not allow the use of tablets or smartphones or notebook computers.

My 48GX, in particular, is somewhat unique in that it has a 128KB FRAM card inside which requires no battery. Useful for installing Meta Kernel or SpeedUI.
The 28S in my collection was my first HP -- the one I bought brand new in 1989 when I started engineering school. That thing got me through my EE classes quite nicely. There weren't many restrictions on advanced calculators back in those days, so I was able to use it in most of my classes which required a calculator. I got the Prime for my kinds when they were in high school. One has graduated college and the other is two years from graduation.
Cool, just checked it out. Also gave you a follow. I do have a 48GX that's bone stock and in need of some repair work, as mentioned in the comment I posted on the photo of your 48GX with the FRAM card installed.
First HP I owned was a 32SII. Got it in 1991. Second was a 48S that I picked up in the autumn of 1992. Original 48SX came in the spring of 1993. That was the one that went MIA, and was replaced by the aforementioned 48GX.

Just an FYI, but if you or any of our fellow HP calculator lovers want to research a log of great calculator info, check out the HP Museum forum here:
That's not to say we can't or shouldn't talk about them here. I just link to that forum because (a) I've been a participant there for many years and find the folks there very knowledgable, and (b) there's a treasure trove of old posts that simply do not exist here on TinkerDifferent, so being able to browse through them can be helpful when troubleshooting problems or when you want to discover new software to try out on your HP calc.
In regards to Flickr, I've been a FREE member for many years, even prior to SmugMug's takeover. I've long had less than the magical 1000 photo limit. But in May 2025, they introduced a foolish rule that prevents everyone, even paid PRO users, from downloading any photo from a FREE member that is higher than 1024px. So all my hi-rez HP pics are now limited to 1024px.
I like Flickr because it allows me to add a long text description under photos, and I am also allowed to include links. That's why I am not into Instagram or other photo sharing sites because they don't offer the same perks. Flickr also shows camera and photo details that are interesting to photography buffs. So it's a very sad turn of events.

That's weird... I've noticed that they seem to be making random changes over the past 2-3 years that really didn't make much sense. One of them being the demise of the Help Forum. Another being the deletion of the old Photostream edit pages, without really coming up with an updated replacement, instead forcing people to either use the Camera Roll, or using the Organizr, which I don't mind doing. I'm just waiting for them to decide to sunset that page.
Re: pro accounts - I wound up reinstating my pro account when the change was made in relation to the amount of total photos. I'm definitely not doing it in a cost-effective way, but at least it's below $20 a month for now.
I probably should join the HP Museum forum.
I've gone through the usual churning of image hosting, they seem to start out good, turn out great, then turn to rubbish within a decade. Think Imgur might be running out of steam for me soon.
If you ever find a Turbo 601 laying around that you're not too attached to, I'm not going to pay outrageous prices for it, but I could be tempted.

^Yep, imgur has been dodgy at best for a while, at least on my end. Photo galleries that people post from imgur have been blank pages for me for a few years. Flickr, with all its faults, still seems to be halfway decent.
I probably would've let the one I had go without the IIvx for $200-$250ish... I'll keep you posted, if I see one somewhere.
