GlobalTalk - Global AppleTalk network for MARCHintosh 2024 (and beyond!)

I've spent 2-3 hours last night to try and retrace the steps from the article linked above. I've been unsuccessful, but I'm not deterred yet. In case my misteps helps out someone by saving time, here's what I've attempted. Gear used: SE/30 with 10+ mb RAM (I forget how much) external DB25...

    Homemade MIDI switching (3in 3out)

And the way these DP4T (double pole, 4 throw) switches work, is that I use 3 pins as inputs, 2 intermediary pins as output. I get 3 unique configurations out of it with one repeating. "double pole" means that 2 things are routed at the same time: the VCC on the top side and the Signal on the...

    Homemade MIDI switching (3in 3out)

This is the best diagram that gives all possible views of the connector and cable, clearly outlining which it is and from which of the two sides. Here are my diagrams. ALL views are from the top side, ie the MIDI female sockets are seen from above, but these 3 wires can be either on the top...

    Homemade MIDI switching (3in 3out)

I have 3 MIDI producing "controller" "things" Mac SE/30 sending out MIDI data through a serial port, through an Anatek Pocket Mac box using stuff like Cubase WeeCee (486/pentium industrial compatible vintage PC) sending MIDI data through the regular pin12 of the game port Keytar from Xbox 360...

Using Cubase v2.5.1r3 from Mac Garden

This is me jotting down notes in this forum thread because I don't want this info to live and die off in a discord server. Gear used: Mac SE/30 BlueSCSI v2 Pocket Mac adapter from Anatek (1in, 2 out, 1 mac serial bidirectional) Roland Canvas-88ST M-Audio ProKeys Sono 88 (not the flashiest...

    New-ish 8088 specific software

I just tried microweb, using some of the addresses I found here: http://www.geocities.ws/oldternet/ http://www.retroarchive.org/ http://altexxanet.org/ http://theoldnet.com/ http://textfiles.com/ It's hard not being able to download any file, displaying any .txt files and seeing no image...

macintosh plus video issue that i think i definitely know the cause of

Almost certainly a cold solder joint crack on the underside one of the J connectors that brings power or the circular joints where the flyback is. Inspect carefully under magnification and see the crack, and the best way is to remove most of the old solder of a joint before putting in fresh one...

Happy Birthday (40!) Macintosh! (made an animated card in C)

I coded my own 40th birthday card for my Mac Plus in C - the goal is to make it work on a Mac 128 eventually! It is *NOT* easy to do after trying it out in emulation for a few hours last night. In terms of data, I'm only using a full screen PICT (so about 22kb) and my YT channel logo which has...

My little guide on RGBTOHDMI installed on Classic, Plus, etc.

Unless I'm mistaken, the J7 cable between the logic and analog board is pretty much the same in the 512 as the Plus. https://www.digibarn.com/collections/diagrams/mac-512klogicboard/mac-logic-schematic.jpg

    Foenix 256 Jr and K

Perifractic released a video 2 days ago on the F256K, framing its whole situation very well- chicken and the egg syndrome with devs and amount of programs made for it. He loves the machine and wants to increase exposure to it to alleviate the unfair advantage of the Commander X-16

    Hey there from California

The SE/30 is an excellent choice. Have you gone down the rabbit hole of recapping at least its logic board? Taken out the battery before it spills and corrodes the board? I've recently added wires to mine from a connector to split the video signal out, sent it to a RGBtoHDMI and can now stream...
