Spinner or SD card recommendations please.

That's fantastic. I will order up one of the enclosures mentioned by @Action Retro with a SSD as regardless of whether I can get this iMac fixed its a useful thing to own (yes they are available on Amazon UK) and I found an adaptor as well.. In the mean time I found a box of HDD in the corner...

Spinner or SD card recommendations please.

Is there any issues with TRIM? I read lots of stuff where some say forget about it where as others are adamant it must be TRIM hardware enabled (which is what is in my G5 tower (OWC)). Thanks for the video tips - i'll check them out.

Spinner or SD card recommendations please.

I have just picked up a M5521 400mhz iMac for the cost of a beer but it has no HDD. Has anyone had success using an IDE to SD adapter or should I buy a spinner as per originally fitted. The machine boots from the slot loading CD fine and the only issue seems to be a dry joint on the analogue...

LC III Dyna Corp PSU not playing ball even after a recap

I had a dead DynaCorp LC PSU and after a recapping and through clean before and after new caps, it has sort of come back part way but seems to lack enough current to power the LC III (or LC). I had been using it but had to turn off the machine due to a system bomb and then it would not power on...

    IIci restoration chances

Dish washer definitely a no go, you’re better off just washing with IPA. Utransonic cleaners are more than just a wash

    IIci restoration chances

Yep agree with all comments thus far. I actually keep a small stock of those ICs for this exact reason. My own IIci was fine though as I think I caught it in time before the caps went bad. It’s quite an easy job if you have the right tools to do it, just check every trace before you do any...

Capacitor recapping guide for LC dyna corp power supplies

Could not find one of these on the usual suspects web sites but I am lazy when it comes to searching the web these days 😂 too much rubbish on Google now. Any ways in case it helps anyone else out here is my recapping sheet. First dyna corp I have had fail (every TDK one I have had has been...

    Macintosh TV sound issue

My first port of call would be a recap to be honest as every Macintosh I have had sound issues with has been fixed that way. Chances are as it warms up the leaked electrolytes are interfering with the sound chip. The board will need a good clean afterwards as well, preferably in an ultrasonic...

Wow Robin, Thank you so much. That covers everything I wanted to know. I had not heard of that book nor did I find a reference when searching - Found it now though :) Many thanks to Patrick as well for his input. - I think that closes this thread as there is the info for all to see. All the...

Anyone help me with LocalTalk 3 pin Cable pinouts?

Thanks Patrick. I so appreciate your time on this. Rest assured, if we do work it out, I WILL post it here... all findings. I think I am going to wire up a patch panel lead initially and see what works. Just would be SO handy to have a cable to allow a tested pin out diagram for this...

Anyone help me with LocalTalk 3 pin Cable pinouts?

Hi Patrick, thanks for you reply and info, you are spot on. its the Apple ones IIRC $99 each originally. Yes I watched Joes video and I pulled the parts from stock to have a go but they have just sat in the project bag since. The video sorta answered one question - if he used standard Cat5e...

Anyone help me with LocalTalk 3 pin Cable pinouts?

Hello, I would like to make up a LocalTalk connection cable (the one that goes between the transducer boxes with 3 pins.) Does someone have the correct pinouts for the plugs? So far I have found that it's pin 1 and 2 but pin 2 seems different to different people some say its on the right...
