Watching with interest. A *BSD image would be fun - especially if you've done all the work! :-)

Apple IIGS RGBtoHDMI + Apple Macintosh Monitors

Looks great! So the ribbon cable is being soldered down to the underside of the IIgs logic board? No criticism implied, but would there be a way to do this that's more reversable? I guess de-soldering wires wouldn't be that bad.

    Clamshell iBook no ethernet link

Good call, but the pins in the port are all lined up... When I get some other stuff off my bench, I'll pop this guy open and check out the connection of the port to it's board. I _can_ use an Airport card, so all is not lost, but on-board ethernet is so very convenient sometimes :)

Sun SPARCstation 1+ help needed (SOLVED)

Here is the NVRAM FAQ: http://www.obsolyte.com/sunFAQ/faq_nvram.html Glitchworks makes a nice little replacement board that lets you use a coin cell battery. You need some Dremel and soldering skills, but it's a nice long-term replacement. I've done about a dozen of these over time...

Sun SPARCstation 1+ help needed (SOLVED)

Both Sun keyboards/mice and the 13W3 adapters to VGA can be found on eBay. Or I can send you a keyboard/mouse - I have plenty! Not handy to me now, but if you search for the Sun NVRAM FAQ it will tell you more about what you need to do to fix that problem. And, if you want to sell or trade...

    Clamshell iBook no ethernet link

I came into a first gen clamshell iBook recently. First thing I did was toss in an OS 9 disk and wipe and re-install the OS. For the record, I believe it was 9.04. There was no Airport card in the machine, so I plugged in an ethernet cable but got no connectivity. Looking at my switch, I don't...

    LaserWriter 2 Paper feed issues

Well, a cleaning of the pickup rollers with a damp cloth and some Q-tips, and inexplicably a different toner cartridge seems to have gotten things sorted out, at least in the short term! After cleaning the rollers, it was still having trouble picking up paper, but when I changed out the toner...

    LaserWriter 2 Paper feed issues

I'm reviving a LaserWriter 2. I got a new "power block" (also known as HP Power module RG9-0205 - $25 on eBay) so now the printer powers up successfully. When feeding paper from the tray, the pickup roller gets it about an inch into the printer and then the paper stops. If, however, I feed paper...
