My G4 baby, PPC G4 MDD

Neat MDD setup. Man you have some seriously top shelf componentry in that beast :) This is my favorite PowerPC daily (subsequently my first PPC box, found out on the curb, in the rain with the trash) - quicksilver 733mhz that I’ve upgraded to dual 1ghz cpu (w/L3), 1.5gb pc133 ram, running...

Is the AMTECH 559 PLUNGER botched?

Man you are dead on about the plunger feedback. It's irrelevant if the flux is good (or not). If the tool to use it sucks, what's the difference? Per your own experience, at this point, you are going back to your preferred flux (and plunger). I as a widget manufacturer sure would love to know...

    Sorbet Leopard

I reached out to z970 and let him know about this thread so if there are any questions, he could address them directly. I think he would be a great fit here. Bruce, I made him aware of your offer of free beer. 🍻

Is the AMTECH 559 PLUNGER botched?

Did you send them your feedback/observation? Maybe they think they're crushing it and you have identified an area of improvement for their product design.

Upgrading from HDD to SSD - how to migrate data?

Unlike OSX and modern MacOS, OS9 doesnt need cloning software. Just drag the source hard drive icon and drop onto the destination SSD icon. A bootable copy of the spinner installation will be copied to the SSD. Once its done, you can swap em out.

Mac OS 9 version for Powerbook G4 (gigabit-Ti)

Welcome. Why not give the OS9 Lives ISO a try? I had an imacg3 and Quicksilver that were finicky about their OS9 iso and the OS9Lives iso installed just fine on both of them. http://macos9lives.com/ and nice pickup. A Titanium Powerbook is one of the remaining computers on my I want list.

    Attic dropped soffit air sealing

That's great. I love spray foam insulation but dont have a gun - I think my garage definitely needs one of those. (y)I just got stuck in the lurch of not having the right tool for the job today. I was replacing a ceiling fan in the home that had become wobbly and unstable at its Jbox and I...

    Favorite cooking technology gadgets

I'm not one for having a ton of kitchen gadgets let alone ones that firmly cross over into tech but I do like this: Mastrad Meat*It + I've had it for a year now and I can tell you it works really well. It's obviously handy in a roasting piece of beast but I have a number of smokers as well...

    PowerBook G4 12in not updating to 10.4.11

Huh, that's weird. I have 10.4.11 and 10.5.8 installed without issue on my 12". I wonder if Tiger updates to 10.4.11 fine on the spinner. Naturally, as the SSD is new, I'd suspect that. Kind of a pain to take it back out though. Assuming wonky ram is not the culprit, TDM from another FW mac...

My Quicksilver 01 seems to flip its lid sometimes with 16:9 resolutions

Man, that is weird. Is it possible that a monitor is too new? Anyhow, glad you got it working. Although I dont have a need for screen cap, HD60s seems like a handy thing to have around.

Food borne illness starts in the home

Yanno what I find crazy? -It's that annually in the US alone, Americans suffer 45-50 million cases of food borne illness a year. worse yet & tragically, around 3000-5000 of those people will die from it each year unnecessarily. The kicker is that over half (55%) of these cases stem not from...

    Favorite cooking method?

Yeah, what are your favs & why? Braising - yeah man, low n' slow moist cooking crushes tough cuts of beast and I love it- especially around now when it gets cold and snowy and those early nights. Braising seals the deal for me. Grilling - Hot n fast med-high indirect dry heat though the summer...

My Quicksilver 01 seems to flip its lid sometimes with 16:9 resolutions

Is it the mac or the GPU that died? Does the QS work with another gpu? Another user on MR purchased a Ti4600 for his quicksilver and also had GUI and resolution issues ie: entire portions of the video image are caked with huge blocks, distorted colour tones and other unwanted artifcats at 720p...

Disappearing scroll bars. Annoying AF. :p Thankfully the feature can be disabled. Unending iOS app store credential requests also grind on the nerves a bit.

Never played it but will give it a shot. Love the big game boxes, so will keep an eye out for this one so I can add it to my small collection on the shelf. The first game I ever played on a computer was Legacy of the ancients for C64. Best Box art EVER! :-) Then after that, I spent forever...
