#MARCHintosh project: Mac IIci 6-node Hermes II BBS

Connected from my newly-working Color Classic using BlueSCSI DaynaPort emulation :)

Radius Rocket & Radius Thunder 24/GT compatible?

I'm running a Turbo040, 128MB LB RAM, 128MB Stage II Rocket, RasterOps Paintboard Prism GT, and Farallon NIC in my IIci with the original Astec PSU (recapped), and everything is stable...no signs of a warp core breach. So, while I can't answer your video card compatibility question, I have...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

I replaced the FPU on the ThunderCachePro and stability improved, but still had the occasional nondeterministic crash. Then I found the reason that MicroMac puts those fancy gold stickers on all of their CPUs and FPUs: That's a 33Mhz part on a 50Mhz accelerator 😬. I swapped in a real 50Mhz...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

It took some tinkering and running in circles, but I finally got this 50Mhz ThunderCachePro working in the Color Classic: When it didn't work on the first try, I moved it to my LCII so I would have at least some access to the card while it was running. Just like in the CC, it was chiming...

Anybody have experience with Radius Rocket Stage II cards?

I don't have any experience troubleshooting or repairing mine so far (knock on wood), but I can confirm that it supports 128MB of RAM: Is there any visible damage or corrosion on either card? I did have another accelerator where leaky caps had eaten a couple of the RAM's data lines, but I...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

Ya, I read about that in your other thread. I'm sure you'll get it going again :) I'm really liking the Color Classic so far. When I got it, I briefly thought about swapping in a 575 board, but they're expensive anymore, and I want to give this accelerator something to do besides gather...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

The Color Classic worked, but had the rusty dusties and some fishy smelling caps on the analog board. The logic board was in good shape and was recapped by the previous owner, so I didn't get/have to do that. So, I completely recapped the analog board, including this guy that wasn't part of...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

So the 512K put up a bit of a fight...specifically the analog board. It was flupping upon arrival. Closer inspection showed signs of a previous RIFA explosion and previous attempts at repairs. The legs of the RIFA replacement weren't clipped, and one of them wasn't soldered to anything...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

128k had a bath and is done for now...moving on to the 512k. I didn't have a cord for the keyboard, so I temporarily soldered one end of a phone cord to the keyboard PCB while I acquire the correct cable 🙃

Was that 6100 a 7100 before you set that monitor on it? :p

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

Ya I'm not sure either. Here are some photos of the drive (all caps and components are original AFAIK): I also found this thread where two other people claim to have OA-D34V-22 drives that work with -A ROMs, but only when adequately shielded...

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

Starting working on the 128k today. The logic board looks like it previously had a RAM upgrade installed (pin sockets installed at E3 above the CPU, something previously soldered to a few CPU pins, and sockets installed for the DRAM chips themselves). Also...no RAM :): So, I installed...

    Dry lubricants for floppy drives

I'll have to give that a try...I have a bunch of that Remington dry lube. Only used small amounts of white lithium grease on floppy drives before. I also have Hornady One-Shot that I use to clean and lube my reloader. It dries to a slick, non-tacky finish too, so it might work well.

    tinkering with compacts all winter?

Looks like I will be :) I recently discovered that another forum member lives less than an hour away and needed to downsize their collection. After making a carefully prepared and well researched presentation to my wife, she gave me the green light to go pick these up: There's a 128k, 512k...

MicroMac Accelerator card for Color Classic (not working)

FWIW, I've seen versions of this card with the 020 instead of the 030. There's one on ebay right now: There are some noteable differences between that card and the card in the first post: U4 is populated resistor at JP1 instead of JP2 20Mhz 020 vs 33Mhz 020 (though maybe running the 20Mhz...

    6100/66 DOS Compatible

Upgraded my 6100 with a GUIDED MISSILE :ROFLMAO:. Grabbed this (hilariously marketed) slot blower fan for $2 at VCFMW to see if it fit under the 6100's HD bay. After removing the slot bracket, it's snug, but it fits perfectly: It's quiet and blowing a steady stream of cool air from...

    MicroMac Power Workstation

Looking at the blurry image of the top of the 2-slot card from the manual, it looks like there *might* be an IC or two next to the slots. I think I see some legs on the edge of the image that aren't part of the LC board: Here's the full page from the manual...

    MicroMac Power Workstation

So I actually got my hands on the 25yr old invoice from when my dad bought this thing: It confirms that he bought it without the accelerator (he likely already had it), which is probably why it didn't include the dual-slot PDS adaptor. People smarter than me...how hard would it be to create...
