    MacTilt

Love it, though I'd want to see provision for a metal frame insert incorporated. Front bezel looks perfect for SD slot and its HDD activity LED.

    MacTilt

LOL! I always thought of stuff like that as MASSIVE overkill/ludicrous over-engineering to achieve what was a simple solution to a simple problem. When my SE was wrecking my neck in the day it was brand new, I just bent a piece of 1/4" Plexi into a flopped over, roughly "Z" profile which angled...

    ADB KVM Switch - Thoughts?

Cool, was wondering about the increased functionality it might add to the project. In the late 80's, I think it might have been Don Lancaster (TTL & CMOS Cookbooks) who was saying that it made no sense to do a project without using a microcontroller. Still seems a bit extreme to me for something...

My 7 HDMI cable + 3 HDMI splitter Byzantine setup

I'm using brand new to me laptop as my main machine, finally running a 1440p display I lucked into! I will have a second 1080p display as well when I finally move back into the second bedroom after the carpet is in. I used the 6360/TV Tuner/VCR on the bench in the back when for a bit of...

My 7 HDMI cable + 3 HDMI splitter Byzantine setup

Cool setup! Does your powered splitter drop copy protection so you can watch DVD/BD via the HDMI capture device on one of your monitors while you work/play at the bench?

    ADB KVM Switch - Thoughts?

Very cool project! Love the modular expansion option. I'm curious about the need for a microcontroller/Pi in the design at all? If it's for KBD/Mouse emulation for the offline machines that makes a world of sense? Otherwise a simple dumb TTL gate logic setup could be breadboarded for testing...

Documentation for DB15 to VGA adapters

https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/video-adapter-docs-scan-dump.24012/ LMK which of these adapter docs you might want me to look for in the Video Drawer.

    Strange Plus Mod?!

Can't think of what they were called offhand, but bucket could be from one of the security hardened setups for Alpha-Bet Soup Agencies. Backside and front bezel had cover plates while the sides looked stock, copper on the inside of the bucket makes sense for that.

    6100/G3/HPV Turbo Cooler Hack

Off today and the chassis was just sitting ther on the bench upside down, so a bit more about the 6100's cooling intake setup: S-curves on both sides constrict the surface area of the outlet from the large, low pressure intake grating that's pulled into the system by the PSU fan. This...

    6100/G3/HPV Turbo Cooler Hack

Finished documenting the installation/mods before work. :) Sled/chassis interface seals the top surface pretty well as is: Detail of sled parts removed. Dunno if it's the correct sled, but found one I'd already modded a bit to hack up some more. Sled/fan assembly is integrated into the...

    6100/G3/HPV Turbo Cooler Hack

Lets start off with a trick I came up with to remove the %$#% plastic "inner chassis" without breaking anything. Had I been a little bit quicker about it I'd have wicked 3-in-1 oil down the members sitting on the oxidized bottom plate of the chassis. No harm done, I used some handy...

    6100/G3/HPV Turbo Cooler Hack

Bottom of the 6100 case is metal. Holesawn vent cutout won't affect any vertical load bearing members. ;)

    6100/G3/HPV Turbo Cooler Hack

Thanks, the original concept would have pulled a bit more air through the intake grate under the HDD, passing it out a vent in the backplane cover plate in a straight thru shot. That would probably work, but in thinking about more I came up with a bit more radical approach? The aim of this...

    6100/G3/HPV Turbo Cooler Hack

Been very slowly putting together my maxed out 6100 and this little goodie arrived yesterday: Hole saw mod to plastic chassis required as well as ductwork underneath to funnel entire clipped corner square vent grid into the intake of the blower. May fab it as five sided pyramid with plans...

How Does One Explain The Difference In The Size & RAM Usage Of Modern Operating Systems?

Dunno, it seems a blur to me. "As we know it" is a slippery slope in terminology, covering a whole lot of the ground in question. Big Iron->Mini conversion started from the very early Sixties. I'd say some version of UNIX might be considered the starting point, becoming Linux and Mac OSX of...

How Does One Explain The Difference In The Size & RAM Usage Of Modern Operating Systems?

Great explanation, to push it even farther back in history: In ancient times when my dad was a systems engineer at IBM, resources were incredibly tight. As he explained it, there was no operating system at all, each program running standalone on the computer at machine level on what really was...

For What Do You Think The Classic II ROM Expansion Was Intended?

Does the Classic II boot from ROM as does the Classic? If not, ROM on that interface might be a great place for a customized startup System, data a/o a few system maintenance applications.

Yah, breaks in the usual direction. Hobble the low end so as not to steal sales from the high end syndrome at its worst. I'm wondering if the iLamp's AirPort card slot might support the VTBook** laptop vidcards I snagged a while back? They've got some crazy specs. Never did find OS9 drivers for...
