    Color Classic VGA Woes

Oh, wow! And only $2.79 too... That's really amazing. Thank you for convincing Console5 to add that kit! I'm still filming my video on the CC Analog Board parts swap. Having to deal with some lifted pads right now. Not torn-off pads, just lifted. Not too surprising in light of how hot...

Blingboard64 - New keyboard for the Commodore 64

Weren't the original C64 keyboard keys double-shot with two different colors of plastic to ensure nothing could possibly wear off over time? I never owned a C64 back in the day, so I have no idea. Many good keyboards of that era did use double-shot keys, even HP calculators, and that's why...

    Macintosh Plus - Power Issues

Welcome to TinkerDifferent, Jake. I sure hope you got a good price on that Mac Plus, because no one in their right mind should be selling that machine at "going rates" without a normaly 1MB amount of RAM. Your story is the first I've hard of a Mac Plus selling with insufficient RAM. The Plus...

    Color Classic analog board trouble

@Garrett Thanks for sharing that info! @Kay K.M.Mods has an excellent write-up about his experience with the LC575 A.B.’s flyback versus the CC A.B.’s flyback here: https://ameblo.jp/keroxiee1016/entry-12606478366.html And here are two photos I extracted from that write-up… LC575 flyback...

    Color Classic analog board trouble

The attachment in the opening post by @YMK has a text file extension even though it is HTML, making it hard to open. I converted it to Google Sheets and improved the styling and layout. Anyone can freely edit and update it here: Color Classic ANALOG BOARD PARTS LIST...

    Color Classic analog board trouble

@This Does Not Compute The only time I have ever had my screen stay black, hearing all the sounds you described AND booting too, is when I've got the CPU overclocked too fast for the VRAM SIMM. But I am using an LC575 board, and it seems you are using the stock CCII board, right? In other...

    Color Classic analog board trouble

Because I am preparing a video on this topic, I have re-read this entire thread a couple times, and I'd like to address some loose ends... @YMK Very sorry to trouble you, but could you please mark on an analog board photo where that "horizontal output transistor" is located? I'm just curious...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

I have a BlueSCSI v1 mounted directly to the motherboard SCSI connector via the nifty SCSI Rider Type-A by @Kay K.M.Mods . What I love about SCSI Rider Type-A is it doesn't block anything! Putting a BSv1 or BSv2 on a 3D printed mount at the back of the slot on the SE or SE/30 creates issues on...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

JLC3DP has finished printing my order and they sent me the photos below showing the knob printed twice in PA12-CF because we have 2 sizes of the inner hole. JLC asked if I was satisfied with the way their "supports" were removed and left some residual plastic behind. I told them yes and to...

Be it a paint program or a calculator, I think everything you're working on right now is an incredible feat! Truly fantastic!

    Color Classic VGA Woes

The 2 datasheets you mention are here... CNY75: https://www.vishay.com/docs/83536/83536.pdf CNY17: https://www.vishay.com/docs/83606/cny17.pdf Both are drop-in compatible and typically require about 10mA to fully switch the transistor. CNY17 is a slightly better part overall but I don't see...

Early Demos (Finder, SoundLab, Sbardemo, WindowManager, IconEditor)

So basically you're working on a revamped version of SketchPad of sorts, at least on a concept level when it comes to implementing a bitmapped paint program on the LISA. Neat!

Excellent work so far on your LisaGUI, @andrew ! Because I will never own a LISA I, a personal goal for me is to be able to at least emulate the experience, which of course includes the LISA Office System software. I never had success with LisaEm running on any of my Macs, but it is...

Color LCD Retrofit Kit for SE/30 by ZigZagJoe

Shooting the LCD is hard to avoid discoloration, but I found the best still images came from 4K video, and the still below is one of those. If you expand it out and zoom in, you can even see the R, G and B colors for each pixel. Super sharp!

    Color Classic VGA Woes

Even without burn marks on the PCB, some of the components I listed get shockingly hot. Heat can cause many unexplainable things. And right now, you are seeing unexplainable things. I mentioned my thermal camera earlier in this thread, but it's not clear if you have one or not. If not, how...

    Color Classic VGA Woes

Returning to an earlier discussing in this thread... "That thread" of course means this one: https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/color-classic-analog-board-trouble.2367/page-2#post-21650 I'm actually prepping a new video about swapping those components, which are these: RL62: 47Ω 5W 5% Axial...

Early Demos (Finder, SoundLab, Sbardemo, WindowManager, IconEditor)

For now, I'm content to fiddly with this browser-based LISA: https://alpha.lisagui.com/ No way to set the speed to simulate that slow 5MHz processor though. But maybe that's a good thing. Even so, the major apps you'd want to try out like LISA Paint and the office suite are not available...

    3D Printing & MacEffects Appreciation

Not to diminish in any way the extreme importance of having a CLEAR FAN inside a crystal clear SE Case, but I know from experience that clear fan is much louder than a Noctua 60mm. It's on part with the stock fan. I love the clearness and LED light, but my ears can't handle the sound levels...

My email worked. Julia wrote back just now to say they lifted the "payment restriction" that was in place, which allowed me to pay. My order is now locked into their queue. So it's clear you do need to email them when they prevent you from paying.
