Macintosh IIci - No chime or video after recapping. Any ideas?

@fred1212 Glad to hear your machine is up and working. Doing those SMD solder job Reloaded boards is no small task, so I can see why Will is currently the only guy out there doing them. It's going to be a sad day for many when and if he stops, assuming no experienced and reliable person is...

    Microscope recommendations

Quite a bit better than the cheap one I have, which I got on AliExpress a few years ago for only $50. 4K would be nice to have.

    G4 Cube VRM

Curious... My question to "evanboonie" would be this: how powerful is "high power"? 150% related to stock?

    New to Me Mac SE/30

I appreciate your kind word. Email notifications of replies to threads like this one help me do that. And if the notification comes at the right time, I can fire off a response pretty quickly. I like to do that because I know if I put it off until a later time, I might be so busy I won't...

    New to Me Mac SE/30

Although I wouldn't want to ruin that memory from your youth, there's a video that can help soothe your ears when the time comes to change out that little noisemaker: :-)

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

I tested it today but found HeapTool 1.4 doesn't resolve the low memory issue that triggers the error message in SCSI Director Pro 4.0. The author of HeapTool made it for System 6 and says it "probably" wouldn't have any meaning under System 7 due to the way 7 handles the heap in a much better...

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Thank you very much for the tip! I’ll give that a try on Monday.

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

For the LC models that use the auto-inject drives (with the skinny disk insertion slot in the plastics which looks like an SE or SE/30, not like a PM6100), most any of the F75W series should work, including MFD-75W-01G and MFD-75W-02G.

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Petar, good to see you back in action. The newest version posted by @Zane Kaminski in this thread is firmware 0.7e. I look forward to hearing the results of your testing!

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

I am the furthest thing from an expert regarding the LC one, two, or three series because I’ve never owned one. But based upon what I’ve seen, some of those machines used manual inject floppy drives while others were auto inject. Those two drive types are quite different.

Wow. Now THAT is a project! Interestingly, your board layout looks a bit different than mine: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B1lG4VTwGGUEiDp Curious if there was more than one Rocket design, or if your design looks different simply to accommodate different chips.

    I Bought 8 x 16MB SIMMs from tindie.

You said you have a ROM-inator II ROM SIMM and I can tell you for a fact that is likely your trouble because the PCB is very thin. That remains true even if you had no issues prior to installing your new RAM. Even with ROM Clips, you may have trouble. I had my stock ROM SIMM slot removed and...

Apple IIc TEARDOWN & MacEffects Clear Case REVIEW [VIDEO]

Making this video was a learning experience. Despite asking many people for advice and watching YouTube videos on the subject, I still had trouble with the Speaker install, but ultimately I got it locked-in with hot glue. I love using IIc Drop-to-Open technique that Javier Rivera taught me...

    SuperDrive (floppy) maintenance

There is yet another case that I posted on FaceBook yesterday, and have been speaking to @fehervaria and others about. My case pertains to bad 1.44MB SuperDrive heads. That problem has nothing to do with Zero Track or Motor misalignment. In my case, I know that to be true because I removed the...

    Vertical band on screen

Was the problem ever resolved? If it was, what was the root problem? Also, many people have asked me about that model 157-026C flyback over the years, wondering if it is compatible. I've never tried it myself. So because you bought one and installed it, I'm quite curious if it works as...

    Netatalk 4.0 - Future-proofing Apple File Sharing

Thank you. That is the kind of concise info I was suggesting be added for clarity. "Why build from the source? So you can enable AppleTalk, which isn't enabled in pre-built packages." If it is not added, it's perfectly fine. I am just making a suggestion for newbies like myself who tend...

    Floppy Failure Help

Here's the moldy floppy I mentioned in my previous post, which negatively affected my heads, even though I had just cleaned the heads and the entire drive only hours prior to testing that disk.
