My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

If one of you could sketch out a simple wiring diagram for the connections, including the resistors, that might help others who are following this thread with interest. No rush. Just whenever you have time.

Identifying and confirming fake 68040 CPUs (especially the L88M mask)

These are the markings on the LC040 that came with the LC575 in untouched condition which I purchased on Yahoo Auctions Japan at the end of 2021... TOP LEFT SIDE Those markings are originals make by Motorola and do not come off even after repeated application and removal of thermal tape...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

If someone recreated the equivalent of the IIe card in the form of a rPi that connects to a CC or Mystic MB via PDS, the end result would be the same, and I would not have any issue with that at all.

RAM for LC575 & Color Classic Mystic

@Kay K.M.Mods showed me the photo below in the past, which means he got that particular model number to work fine in his Mystic. That implies the 64MB modules I link in my opening post should also work, but I'm still unclear on the voltage. I doubt that his 128MB module is 5v and the 64MB...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

You know, I don't own a single Apple II device, but I am getting this burning desire for an Apple IIe card for my Color Classic. I really would love to do a video on that. I am not, of course, willing to spend $700 on one, which seems to be the going price. With all the SE and SE/30 Reloaded...

RAM for LC575 & Color Classic Mystic

Thank you for the replies! The still unanswered question about the 2 types of Keystron RAM I linked in my opening post is this: Are those Keystron 64MB SIMMs 5v or 3v? If 3v, I assume they won't work in an LC575 MB. Are your working EDO SIMMs 5v, @Mr. Fahrenheit ?

Craig, perhaps @Kay K.M.Mods can comment, but since I do not have a IIe or RaSCSI, I really cannot answer your question.

RAM for LC575 & Color Classic Mystic

Recommending FPM RAM is best, I agree, but in terms of newly made RAM that is easy to find and buy at a reasonable price (i.e., not older RAM sold at auction), the Keystron brand is about the only thing I can find. The issue thought is that it is all EDO, not FPM. Here's a link to all the...

My MacSD Upgrade for the Colour Classic [and Stereo Mod]

I appreciate this thread very much. My plan is to do a video on MacSD in a Color Classic, and also a video on the Stereo Mod, which concludes taking the speaker from a junked Quadra 630 and using it inside the Color Classic. But I must do my overclocking and Kai Robinson SE Reloaded videos...

RAM for LC575 & Color Classic Mystic

Thank you very much for your reply! I Googled your part number but that 128MB stick appears no longer sold. The 4 reasons why I am desperately seeking first-hand experiences with the specific RAM linked in my opening post (RAM that is currently sold) is the following: EDO RAM is not 100% the...

RAM for LC575 & Color Classic Mystic

I posted this question on FaceBook (Vintage Apple Macintosh Enthusiasts group) 5 days ago and not a single person replied, so let's see if the amazingly knowledgable folks here at TinkerDifferent can do better! Do any of you have experience using any of the following Keystron RAM SIMMs in your...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

Two-way shipping would be costly because I am based in Japan and because USPS strong-armed Japan to increase prices by 20% in June 2021! Besides, if @Kay K.M.Mods can test an Ethernet card in one of his Mystic machines (at a high clock speed), that would be all that is needed.

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

If someone ever ships me a COMM slot card for my LC575 Mystic motherboard, I will be sure to test that! :-) I have no idea if the slot works or not because I don't have a single card to put there. Maybe Kay can test that. But if any of you absolutely hate your Apple IIe cards and are looking...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

@Drake , thank you for testing. Your mention of the "resistor mod" means you have the stock 512x384 resolution with your LC575 Mystic motherboard. For those of you following this discussion, the resistor mod is used to make System 7.5.5 to 8.1 work without any software hacks. (See "Logic Board...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

I spent my lunch break testing that, in fact. I first booted into 7.1 at 44.44MHz, verified AppleTalk was off (in the Chooser), then rebooted into 7.6.1, which was fine. I confirmed AppleTalk was off there too, then shutdown, pulled the motherboard, flipped the switch on Spicy O'Click to the...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

Very interesting. Thank you for that info. Although Systems 7.1 and 7.5.5 boot fine (unlike 7.6.1 & 8.1) at overclock speeds higher than 44.44MHz, when I try to open the AppleTalk control panel in System 7.1 at 49MHz and then click "No" when it asks me to activate it, the machine freezes. So...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

It's really like Scotty in That Which Survives (photo below), where the Enterprise blows past Warp 13. It's a speed unlike anything achieved before! That's what it's like to hit 51.1MHz on a Mystic with @Kay K.M.Mods Spicy O'Clock! But again, I get pixel dust (pixie dust? 🧚) as the arrow...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

I disabled AppleTalk from even loading, along with everything marked "open transport." In fact, I even removed the Chooser in hopes of getting it to work. Again, sometimes OS8.1 boots but mostly it freezes during the boot sequence. I can boot 7.6.1 more often than 8.1, but it's still pretty...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

@Drake What OS's have you been testing with a high overclock? (Anything higher than 44.4MHz) I can get System 7.1 to work fine at any stable clock speed. System 7.5.5 wasn't too hard to get working at high clock speeds, and once working it consistently works. But System 7.6.1 and OS 8.1 have...

    Mystic Overclock - A Spicy O'clock Adventure

@Drake I must say it is very interesting that you could overclock the LC 040 CPU to 47MHz. I am unable to get my LC CPU much beyond 43MHz. Here's a photo of my LC CPU... But with a full FPU edition 040, I can overclock to the maximum 51.16MHz. That is with the same 60ns VRAM and 60ns RAM...
