Again, I am quit impressed with your work on this! So long as there are quiet 60x10mm fans out there, I don't see an issue with going with that large size. But for the record, Noctua, my quiet fan maker of choice, does not have a 10mm thick version in a 60mm size, and their 25mm would be too...

Holy cow, that thing is incredible! Bravo on a job well done! Will that be a public STL file release or an item you will sell? I'm eager to give your creation a try with my gold heatsink and some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut! When you say "screw a 60mm onto it," do you mean a 60mm fan?

Will that clip design work with the 45x45x10mm gold heatsink?

Very interesting! @Kay K.M.Mods is quite adept with his 3D printer, and you can see the new back panel and Spicy mount he made in my video. Perhaps you two should do a joint effort on a heatsink clip! The heatsink shown in my video is a nice one, spanning the full 45mm width of the 040 chip...

I actually mention my hope someone could design a "clip" on my Part II video on Spicy. I too want a solution that allows me to use a high quality thermal paste, rather than thermal tape, to yield the best cooling. Of course, it becomes a little more complex when you also want to tack on a...

Indeed, and I never said MLCC's "can't be used at all." As to the other technical information you kindly researched and linked for us, I appreciate that very much and think it is good reading for those who are less informed about the caps we are talking about. At this point, I would recommend...

Ceramic caps are unfortunately a BAD idea for reasons I will now explain. Unless you use tiny capacitance values in the pF or nF range, such that you can actually use NP0/C0G types, you would need to use an MLCC like an X7R. NP0/C0G caps don't have a voltage derating, which is great. But...

I would suggest you halt everything until you've recapped, and my advice is to use OS-CON or similar solid polymer capacitors with super low ESR to make 100% sure the craziness you are seeing is in no way whatsoever related to voltage instability on the motherboard, which likely is the case if...

I can only say that those test results don't follow what I've been seeing in my 4 months of testing on the LC575 motherboard, so we really, really need another LC475 user who also has Spicy O'Clock to explain in detail what happens on their machine, at the same clock frequencies you used, and...

I have access to 2 scopes at the office, both 100MHz only. I also have a logic analyzer, but it too maxes out at 100MHz, and only for 2 channels. @Zane Kaminski You do a lot of design and testing work. What reasonably priced 500MHz scope would you recommend for general use? Being able to read...

Keep in mind that is 40mm. The heatsink I will show in my forthcoming video is 45mm and covers the entire top surface area of the chip. I think it's best to cover most of the chip where possible to maximize cooling.

Because the MC88916DW80 was mentioned by Kay, I should remind everyone that on my LC575 board, I have the slower MC88916DW55 chip. You can see that chip in this section of my Part I video. But despite that slower DW55 chip, I have broken the 50MHz barrier with Kay's new 2-chip VRAM. There's...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Eric, I just confirmed that FPS does not appear on my 68K Mac after changing the screen size. So what you are seeing is either a PPC only feature or maybe there was some code entered in the past on your machine that enabled it. Anyway, thank you! --James

Duke Nukem 3D: How to activate Demo Mode or Auto Play?

I've installed Duke Nukem 3D on my Color Classic Mystic: https://macintoshgarden.org/games/duke-nukem-3d-atomic-edition I want to have it auto-play on a CC while I sit beside the machine and shoot a segment for my next video. Of course, I could do a "hack" whereby I sit down and play the game...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

Thanks. Well, I need to test it again, but in all my countless hours and days and weeks of testing with Doom II, no screen size changes I ever made resulted in FPS showing. So the key difference here would appear to be the fact I am using a 68K Mac while you are on a PPC machine. I will...

CC Overclocking: how to show "FPS" on games like Doom II

I was filming and editing last night and had no time to test that. My time this evening is also limited, but just to quickly confirm, can you tell me the exact steps that need to be done? For example... 1. Launch Doom II. 2. Change Screen Size slider to anything at all. 3. Play game and enjoy...

@Zane Kaminski I was just talking to @Kay K.M.Mods yesterday about the $25 50ns VRAM from Silicon Insider. It's for PPC Macs and therefore not pin-compatible with the LC575 motherboard, but when my eyes spotted that my brain was laser-focused on the "50ns" part! The chip capacity is larger...
