Mac IIsi no power to BlueSCSI

Alright. I think instead I’m going to give the IIsi the hard drive that’s currently in the 7100, and my 7100 will get the BlueSCSI. That probably makes more sense anyway as the 7100 is the more powerful computer.

Mac IIsi no power to BlueSCSI

I bought a fixer upper IIsi from the VCF East swap meet in June. Had been recapped already but was missing any RAM expansion, the floppy drive is dead, and it had no hard drive. I’ve since maxed out the RAM, bought and assembled a BlueSCSI V2 for it, and verified the BlueSCSI worked on my 7100...

Trying to replace a dying computer

Presumably if the one you have now is running Windows 98, and you got it a couple decades ago, you got it when it wasn’t that old. Nowadays, picking up a 20 year old system isn’t going to yield the same reliability as one would have when it was just 5 or so years old. Components in all of them...

    Tinker Different 2024 Calendar Competition

Really like this one. I should start one of these myself! What did you use as a container?

Trying to replace a dying computer

Are you aware of what is wrong with your current computer? Like even just a general description of what makes you think it's dying. Also, what model is it? Or is it a custom build? It's possible or even likely that repairing it could be as simple as swapping out the power supply inside of it, or...

New website homepage - feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks! It appears my hosting enabled all the unneeded security stuff at some point so I’ve got to figure out how to turn that all off :)

New website homepage - feedback would be appreciated!

Whoops forgot to update here. I put the same thread out on 68kMLA and the feedback was largely what you two have said and I agree - here's the updated version. I'm really happy with it now, what do y'all think? As for the width of everything - I want to prioritize usability for the majority of...

New website homepage - feedback would be appreciated!

I had a burst of inspiration this evening and spent a few hours putting both my novice web design and novice photoshop skills to work on a whole styling facelift for my website, and this was the result: https://macdat.net/index_test.html I personally think it turned out really well for the...

Copying legacy software from internet repositories to 68k Macs

The way I do things is using a PiSCSI device: https://github.com/PiSCSI/piscsi It's basically a BlueSCSI with a web interface and a whole lot more functionality (with a couple major caveats). It reduces the "bridge machine shuffle" to a simple process: Download a piece of software in .sit...

    Duo MiniDock capacitors

Thanks for the values. I knew they were there but didn’t know the values to add to my site - will get that up soon!

    Apple Extended Keyboard repair help

I figured out what was causing it, the bodge I soldered was right next to a ground pin on the controller IC and it was bridging intermittently. All good now, not the switch at fault in the end :)

A new movie about TETRIS!!! 🤩🕹️📺

Just watched it. It was great! A bit of embellishment on what actually went down back in the day no doubt, but it’s a fun watch.

Clamshell XGA Mod - Possible on 4MB VRAM models?

Man, if only we could get in contact with 'iClamVideos". That would help a lot!

    What's your oldest working battery?

Here’s an update to mine: 1. Oldest is still my 3400c batteries, although now I’ve got 5 of them! And yes, the 5th one still holds at least 2 hours. 2. My PowerBook G3 PDQ’s battery is still going strong too. 3. I’ve now got another Latitude CPi battery that works. That’s from 1998. 4. I do...

    Apple Extended Keyboard repair help

Good news! The problem resolved itself. Who’s to say why, good thing is it works now! I’ve gone ahead and also soldered up the bodge for the left option key, and I finished cleaning it up. All reassembled now and working great! All for just $5 and a bit of time, definitely worth it!

    Apple Extended Keyboard repair help

I just tested in circuit and the switch does appear to be stuck shorted. Good point though that it may be the PCB at fault as well, I’ll desolder the switch when I have time and then I’ll have a look if it’s really bad or if it’s the board. I hope it’s the switch.

    Apple Extended Keyboard repair help

I’ve got an original AEK with a bad left shift key. I took the assembly apart and noticed some corrosion in one area and I cleaned it up. Two traces are bad and I traced one of them back to said left shift key, great! The other leads to an option key. So I traced the trace all the way to a pin...

Just soldered up and installed a V2 BlueSCSI into my PowerBook 170 - it’s had it hinge mounts replaced, RAM maxed to 8MB, and now this. Just need to replace its interconnect board to get internal sound working again and it’s finished.
