PowerBook G3 Lombard 333Mhz - Main Battery Problem

Unfortunately, a deeply discharged lithium battery is very likely a damaged battery. It’s probably best not to try to revive it. You are better off having the battery rebuilt. CHANS Battery Rebuild in Canada did a good job with my Lombard battery.

    CRT compatibility

I once put my SE/30 project on hold for a full decade after spending a day fiddling with the magnets. I valued my sanity, and was at risk of losing it.

    (2) Macintosh SE/30's - Full Restoration

As far as the correct tool for the horizontal adjustment is concerned, I made a mold of an Allen wrench using silicone putty, poured in epoxy, and made an epoxy wrench. It works fine.

    TiBook Display upgrades

I’ve rebuilt some displays of the M5884, A1001, and A1025 TiBooks using bare LCDs. Because removing the LCD from a TiBook display will almost always damage the display’s back and sometimes the bezel, I used NOS bezels and display backs from Sunshine Express on eBay to make a new display from the...

    DVD Burning in OS 9

Toast 5 is what I used in OS9. With a compatible DVD burner, OS9 even has built-in burning.

    Power Macintosh 7200/7300/7500/7600 Power Button

After my own disastrous PETG print (too flexible), I printed one in Nylon, and it works well. It won’t shatter the way my polyurethane casting from 2012 recently did.

    Mac-O-Meter REVIEW (voltmeter)

I think the price CayMac is charging is very fair and hobbyist-friendly. I built a triple voltmeter using inexpensive meters from Amazon and a floppy connector from eBay. The biggest expense was the floppy connector. The total expense (including wire and 3d filament) was roughly the same as...

Help with CRT image on Macintosh Classic I

You have a screen geometry problem, and need to adjust the small black square magnets around the yoke. It is a pain to do because of the danger of electrocution, and the fact that adjusting one magnet affects the settings of the two magnets adjacent to it. Try an internet search for “macintosh...

    RAM SIMM storage

Regarding the use of carbon fiber filled filament for ESD: I did a search on this a couple weeks ago. The best answers I got were from a perplexity.ai search regarding PLA-CF. I realize that AI is not to be fully trusted, but the reasoning was fairly convincing to me. The upshot was that it...

    Just destroyed my SE/30

I also have electronics from as far back as the 1950’s that still work. I’ve also had plenty of TV’s, receivers, VCR’s, printers, and computers from the 1980’s to 2000’s that have failed because of leaking capacitors. While most of the leakages have been from surface mount devices, every...

Rust inhibitor for Mac SE shield?

Corrosion-X is a great coating to exclude water and prevent rust. If there is any residual rust, it prevents it from spreading. I’ve used it on floppy drive mechanisms that were crusted and immobile with rust, immediately after rinsing them off after an overnight soak in Evaporust. They’ve...

Help troubleshooting a Mac SE Astec power supply

Perhaps something got damaged during the process of putting the pcb back into the enclosure. I’d check the underside of the printed circuit board for scratches across the traces. As mentioned by Nixonthenight, I’d also check the transformers. If one of the transformers is shot, I’m sure there...

Any interest in NEW Repro Lombard / Pismo battery packs?

Keep in mind that, without a working main battery, there's no point to a PRAM battery in a Lombard. It is meant to tide you over a few minutes while changing main batteries or plugging the Mac in after its main battery's charge is exhausted.

Comparing stock fan vs. Noctua in an SE/30 with temperature data

I don’t believe the Redux line includes a 60mm fan.
