BlueBird-SD-Module: a boutique build for BlueSCSI in Blackbirds?

If it helps, here's a dummy battery model I designed for the PB 500 series. Maybe it could be modified to hold a BlueSCSI board?

Macintosh TV C195 pad ripped off

I had that problem with my first Color Classic, but the behavior went away when I recapped the logic board. It got better immediately afterwards, though, not gradually as your Mac TV board seems to be doing.

Documenting an Interware Booster G3 (Now with driver attached!)

Vimage was a US-based subsidiary of Interware, and IIRC they didn't silkscreen their parts any different so most/all Vimage cards should say Interware on them (I don't think they tried to hide the relationship between the companies). I suspect they picked a different name for North American...

    1979 Olympus OM-10 SLR Camera

Very nice! An OM-10 was my first SLR, which my parents had orginally bought sometime in the early 80s. Looks like yours has the optional manual shutter speed adapter; without it, the camera operates in "aperture priority" mode, automatically setting the shutter speed based off the meter reading...

What are your vintage grail items?

This is a story I'd love to hear!

    Mu0n's Color Classic thread

How did they package it? Was it just wrapped in bubble wrap, or did they use the expanding foam blocks? Either way if I were you I'd consider filing a claim with Buyee about it.

    Joe's Mac Racks

What's the story behind those IIci's?

    Mu0n's Color Classic thread

When you originally purchased the machine, which "plan" did you pick? The default is the "standard plan" which includes shipping insurance and product inspection (when the item arrives at Buyee's warehouse). If you picked that, or the insurance-only plan, then if the machine is damaged when it...

    Mu0n's Color Classic thread

Here's my experience ordering a Color Classic using Buyee from earlier in the year: https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/a-beige-mac-international-shipping-holiday-miracle.642/ And if you're worried about a lack of status updates, it was Golden Week in Japan so many businesses were closed.

Badly distorted CD audio on Quadra 650/800

IIRC machines from that era still used analog audio passthrough from the optical drive. You should have a separate, smaller ribbon cable between the optical drive and motherboard for this. I'd definitely suspect there's something wrong with the audio circuitry on the drive itself if other sounds...

    Is still Hotline a thing?

Applefritter has a Hotline server as well: https://www.applefritter.com/content/university-misfire I have fond memories of using Hotline (and Carracho) on the Blue & White G3 at my job in 1999 on a 128kbps IDSN connection. Lightning fast compared to the 33.6 modem at home!

    Flash-based Silicon Disk for Outbounds?

The Outbound Laptop Mac clones from the late 80s have an interesting feature called the Silicon Disk. It's basically a RAM disk, but uses dedicated SIMMs that aren't shared with system memory. As long as the Outbound has power, it will preserve the contents of the Silicon Disk, even if the...

    Power Mac 6500/250

Apple needed to include at least an external SCSI port so users could attach peripherals, as FireWire wasn't around at the time. Since that meant including a SCSI controller, it would cost practically nothing to include an internal SCSI bus as well. Switching the CD-ROM and Zip interfaces to IDE...

    Color Classic CRT geometry adjustment

I mean, it's not an impossible task, but the service manual assumes you're performing the adjustment with the system powered on (so you can watch the image change). One could instead do the adjustment iteratively, where you power down the machine, discharge the CRT, adjust it a little, then...

    Color Classic CRT geometry adjustment

Fixing a rotated screen image involves physically turning the yoke assembly at the rear of the CRT...I don't think the circuitry from that era supported rotating the image in software. The procedure is documented on page 129 of the Color Classic service manual. Doing the adjustment requires more...

What should i do with this Macintosh ELSIE prototype ?

My two cents: Since leaking capacitors can cause damage, replacing them -- even in a rare or historically significant machine -- would be considered an act of preservation.

Anyone here an expert about the Outbound Laptop? I have questions

Managed to find some answers. The RJ-11 keyboard cable is officially called the "infrared bypass cable", though I still haven't found a pinout. The mini-DIN jack is for an optional mouse that Outbound sold, which was *not* ADB, and could share the keyboard's IR connection to the main unit. The...

What is this accessory stuck to my iMac G3?

If not for an anti-glare filter, then my guess is it's for one of those copy arm things.

Anyone here an expert about the Outbound Laptop? I have questions

    1. The keyboard can work either over infrared, or with an attached cable. The keyboard has two ports, an RJ11 (with matching RJ11 on the Outbound itself), and a mini-DIN. What's the pinout of the RJ11 cable? And what's the mini-DIN for? 2. You could get the Laptop with either an internal floppy...
