    Recommended Oscilloscope for retro computers?

I bought the Siglent SDS1202X-E a few years ago, and it had worked for my novice needs. I need to spend more time getting comfortable with its capabilities. https://siglentna.com/product/sds1202x-e/

BlueSCSI - Open, Low Cost, DIY SCSI to SD device

Thanks for pointing out the IIGS version. I missed this news. I had tried using a standard model earlier but didn't have any luck. Instead of mounting it internally (which I hadn't thought about), I planned to replace the spinning drive in the external enclosure that came with my IIGS. I...

New BlueSCSI PDS Card slot bracket for Macintosh SE and SE/30

Thanks for doing this. It is a great idea!

Wow! There is some high-level chemistry going on.

Mac 128K Logic Board (Fault Finding)

I'm curious about the processor. Perhaps if you poke around with your oscilloscope, you can see if it's running correctly compared to another 68k. If a pin that should have data (such as from the address bus) is stuck high or low, it could be a problem with the processor or whatever is feeding...

    *Battery Gore Thread* NSFMacs

The caramel-looking substance flaked off fairly easily, but after removing the battery holder and soaking the board in various cleaners, it was still a horror show. The IC damage was so severe, I knew it was a goner. Of course, I still have it around (because I can't get rid of anything)...

    MessagePad 120

I was lucky enough to use the MP 120 back in the day. It was a fine platform and had considerable abilities. But it felt heavy (literally and figuratively) compared to the slightly later Palm Pilot. A friend of mine now has my 120. I wish I could pry it away from him.

    Retirement

When I first jumped into retro computing, I started with a lovely SE/30 acquired through eBay. I always loved the SE/30 and all 80s and early 90s Macs, but I wasn't exposed to Apple until college, and I figured my hobby would focus primarily on my grade school nostalgia for CP/M and early DOS...

    Any thoughts on my SE/30

Sorry if this is too basic, but have you swapped out the RAM?

Does this help? If not, I can try it again.

    Reaction Score

Here is a tiny detail that I hesitate to mention, but it seems an account's "reaction score" counts "likes" and "loves" but not other types of reactions. I don't know if that is intended or not, but I'll mention it anyway.

    Apple Monitor 100 whine

This may not help, but I had a Mac 512K with a horrible high-pitch whine, and I needed to adjust the voltage pot.

    Apple II Plus

I also came to the Apple II recently. While I had some exposure in school, they usually sat on a lonely desk unused except during rare "free time" activities, but since I wasn't familiar with it, others jumped in front of me to have a go. Around a year ago or so, I picked up an IIGS with a...

    RaSCSI Version 21.10 Is released!!

That's great! I have a kit waiting for me on my bench. I think I'll pair it with the new Pi Zero 2 W. I looked on the Open Retro SCSI Discord, and no one was talking about hardware changes, so I assume my incomplete kit is capable of taking advantage of the new goodness. (?)

    Leftover Extra Part

Yep! It works like a champ. :) It sure looks like it is supposed to cover something that is up against the housing (thus the soft bumper). I almost convinced myself it must go in a different computer, but the part number closely matches other metal parts in the iMac.

The Secret History of Mac Gaming: Expanded Edition

Ordered! Thank you for the heads up. By the way, Amazon has the original listed for $100 US. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1783524863/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_GETNKSS6ERHYZ1B8MEP3)

    Leftover Extra Part

I will embarrass myself, but here goes: Several months ago, I completely tore down, cleaned, and recapped a fine blueberry iMac DV. Aside from the horror of the inner bezel, it went fine, but it sat on my bench for a while. When I reassembled it, I had a piece leftover. I carefully...

    Macchimey?

Is this an April Fools project out of season? Is this the vintage Mac version of a snipe hunt or cow tipping? Well, rock on, you lovely chimney peeps. :D

I appreciate the effort already put into making this a quality experience. I'm excited by the possibilities of this site. The old forums are helpful but can be challenging to penetrate for newbies. Old-school BBSs are lots of fun but (understandably) lack modern conveniences and have limited...
