Wow - you did your Octane way cheaper than me! :) From a quick look, it don't see why that board wouldn't work, unless it needs a different backplane version. Are you able to swap over just the CPU module from the new board to the working board? If you have pics of both boards it might help.

To wrap back around on this thread... Seems the RAM on the card was failed, and no real way (that I could find) to isolate and/or replace. I ended up buying another video card which is working great.

That seems totally logical to me, but I was hoping there was maybe a lucky exception :)

Accelerators and sound don't always play well together. In the old times there was usually a control panel or init that would modify the sound code to get the timing correct. Don't know if such a thing is necessary for this particular accelerator.

I have an SE/30 that I recapped that appears to be working correctly except for one thing. It will read floppies correctly, and will write floppies some of the time, but the rest of the time, and _always_ when I try to format a floppy, it will crash with a "bus error" in the Finder, or just lock...

If I didn't have the MacEffects card, I'd totally be in. If anyone is on the fence about this, you definitely want the extra RAM in your Portable!
