I tried a similar version of that adapter on my Beige G3 and it proved unrelable under load; the machine would hard-hang. Perhaps the issue is that the IDE bus on this class of machines is too slow for this controller. It may be fine in B&W and other faster G3s, but I've not tried.

I can report that my Rev G board, with my hack reverted, and with R28 changed, does indeed work with TP or with external MAU via AUI. In fact, I used a value of 270k because I didn't have a 220k at hand, but evidently the resulting longer delay is fine.

No - most (cheap) SIL3112-based SATA cards have insufficient capacity for the preferred Mac firmware (SeriTek). Furthermore, the SeriTek firmware accepts only 3 types of 4Mb PROM (PM39LV040, MX29LV040 or AM29LV040B).

How did XPostoFacto figure in? Did you apply its patches from OS9 on the real machine after the virtual install, or did you use XPF in the VM to assist the virtual install?
I've tried various SATA-IDE adapters with G3 DT and MT, and they're either unusable or at best unreliable.

One simple way to get RJ45 to work on the Rev G board is to:
remove R45, a 0Ω resistor
tie the end of R45 closest to the NIC controller (with trace to pin 72) to pin 7 of U20 which is the OV rail

I’ve used a couple of the Rev G version of these NICs in Mac IIcx and IIci, and I’ve always have trouble with RJ-45 10Base-T. Operating through an external AUI transceiver is fine but direct RJ-45 connection mostly fails.

I'm fixing up an SE/30 and my brightness pot has also been munged. In my case, ~180KΩ is the value needed for adequate brightness. Your 18KΩ seems very low (for a 1MΩ pot) - was this a typo?
