Yep, I took out the shelf space for tuner, but the fan is in the way for a full height card IIRC. A low profile card in the top slot worked for you? The bottom slot doesn't align with the backplane cutout when using the 6x00 PCI Riser if memory serves. Cable based PCI risers for 1U conversions...

That doesn't work out so well, took a look at it. But if I finally get around to learning to use current PCB layout tools or rope someone into designing the boards for me this TwinSlotPCI riser for 6360/5400/5500 and another just for TAM are eminently doable...

Back from the beach and dropped the grlf off at the airport. Took a day off to crash and went a bit nuts with the grinder and wet tile saw today. 🤪 Looking a bit better, but what crazy metal removal required. Remember, this friggin' tanks' rear armor plate is 14 Gauge/1.5mm thick! Hogged out...

    Xyber Xcaliber piggy back board

Never restore a 128K to its inglorious stock condition! Especially important to preserve it as is if it's not the first release board! The 128K was obsolescent at release when SJ was forced to use a 512K prototype to handle its intro/announcement! That RAM upgrade board installation would be...

6360's a great machine. Got a refurb from the User Group Connection when it was current with memory upgrade and Sonnetization planned. Pulled the speaker out of its nook and hooked it up to stereo speakers. Bent the harness backstop out of the way and installed a full length Radius VidCard to...

In this shot it looks like you had the same kind of offset slot problem I have, in the other not so much? Difficult to show the 3.8mm offset required to fit the 9500/PEx boards. But easy enough to see that the rightmost slot edge will be a perfect overlay for the resultant gap. After the...

Looks like you had to shift the slots to the left for clearance as well. How much and in what kind of case design? Looks a tad too narrow for 4U?

First update: Got the new backplane cut down to fit. Had to move slots to left about 3.8mm to clear side of case/logic board. Made first ugly slot cut with wet tile saw to start cutout for connectors and slot removal. 9500 board is stand-in for PEx ProtoBoard. Lots of nasty work with...

Neat stuff! Neat project. First thing that popped into my head was a cylindrical air duct to pull heat from next to the top vent and back out around to it, exiting the vent. That would let you place the fan anywhere you have available cubic around the path for smooth airflow and noise isolation.

I was planning to finish up my PowerPC Challenge'd MDD'03 setup to finally get an OS9 PortlyTower/G4 graphics workstation back into the rack for this. However that's not nearly as exciting as the open air ATX chassis I recently found on Amazon. Most all ATX toys terminate at the side backplane...

PM 7200 doesn't see CDs, but boots up from them

Yep, the hard drive's terminated, the optical's not. If you want to eliminate the HDD, you'll need something like this in its place: IDC50M SCSI Terminator

PM 7200 doesn't see CDs, but boots up from them

Make sure it's got an Apple logo on it and then make sure the drive is terminated properly if it's the only thing on the bus. edit: redundancy elimination

What did you do to your computer today?

Glad that word salad was clear enough to like, mate! Straightened up just enough for the pics: Don't mind the 20mm Ultrawide distortion, was trying to get far enough back for a pic small enough to post full size. GraphicConverter is offline ATM. Trackball kept me on computer whilst in rotator...

What did you do to your computer today?

Not specifically on any individual computer, but I finally got the 1440p Display up on a flexible wall mount so it's centered comfortably in front of my Mouse/KBD/TrackBall setup. I can now roll the desk out to get at what will be storage beside and behind it. Now I only need to yank the...

    Slot-A Athlon build!

Very cool, love boards with PCI AND !SA slots on board. Beautiful case, one of my favorites here. edit: found this, didn't realize they were still in business. CRAZY Cool stuff!

Has anyone run a 1080p or 1920x1200 panel in Portrait Mode under 9.2.2?

Tried SwitchRes 2.5.3 with no joy there either. However I did think to message them with a request for release of the source code for that and the earlier version. We'll see what happens, we might get lucky? Thinking it's likely not what I need to achieve Portrait Mode in 1920x1200 or even...

Has anyone run a 1080p or 1920x1200 panel in Portrait Mode under 9.2.2?

MacPortrait appears to max out at ancient TPD resolutions. Is there a current solution? Windows and Ubuntu have had me spoiled for the longest. The last time I ran a second screen in that orientation on a Mac it was the Macintosh Portrait Display on the 2300c/DuoDock+ next to the 21"...

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

Thanks to obsolete, PCI VidCard arrived today and it drives the 1920x1200 panel just fine over DVI. Swapped the cables just to see and the first one he sent me does as well when hooked up to the HPZR24w at its native resolution. New one's back to only 1920x1080 when hooked up to the Dell 1440p...

2026 PowerPC Challenge: the user's Unofficial thread

Yay! It finally arrived! 160GB 2.5" IDE drive in what looks to be factory antistatic bag nestled nicely in bubblewrap into a box showing no signs of abuse whatsoever. I think I'll trust it after all. New VidCard's on the way via United Package Smashers, but the sender does a fab job of...
