Trouble with Sound Driver on LC/LCII

That's the newer CD-ROM version. I am using the floppy version that uses the old Apple sound table.

Still going nowhere for me. Still on xfinitywifi because I'm not paying $100 a month for internet when I live near a hotspot and can get it for $10 a month. Sure, I don't have a router, but I have zero smart appliances.

Sony Trinitron - one of the GREATEST TV and monitor technologies in history 📺

I still have a 13" Trinitron from 1997, not sure of the model offhand, in use as a second TV. Currently it's connected to a Panasonic DVD player and makes a fine choice for NES as well.

Currently not able to load it over here. Maybe it's because I'm cheap and use the xfinity WOW pass instead of having a router? Hopefully some anime character doesn't flag me as a bot...

    What printers are you using?

Right now we are exclusively using ImageWriter IIs with the older Macs. I have one at home and two for the lab. All of these are equipped with the AppleTalk card. I have another one in the lab storage unit that doesn't work with the network despite a known good card inside (tested on another...

Apple Branded LocalTalk Boxes - Failure Rate?

If you were at VCFSE this weekend and tried to use one of my LCIIs, you may know one of them wasn't seeing the network. This happened on two different re-capped boards, so I'm thinking the LocalTalk box I had in there may have been the culprit. I have four extras at home that I can try as a...

Trouble with Sound Driver on LC/LCII

I'm going to test a few of these out again this week and will put some wired headphones on them to see what happens.

Trouble with Sound Driver on LC/LCII

I have some LC and LCII boards that were recapped over a decade ago by someone who no longer does re-caps that share a similar problem. On the surface, these computers work fine. They run well, they chime upon startup, they do everything you'd expect them to. The problem is that they have an...

    VCFSE Next Weekend! Who's In?

Who's coming down to Atlanta? I'm hoping to get one more LC II refurbished in time for the show. I have the parts in hand (and actually had what I needed in a trunk I forgot I had). Life has been crazy lately, but I've got a nice workday afternoon tomorrow. We will have an Oregon Trail...

    VCFMW 2026 Should Be Sweet!

Sounds good. I'm mostly just trying to figure out logistics here to see how many tables I get. For the first time in Pittsburgh Classic Mac Lab history, I'm going to have other people run a lab for me back in Pittsburgh while I'm in Chicago. I need to look at allocation of Macs for VCF vs a...

    VCFMW 2026 Should Be Sweet!

Bumping--been a month since registration opened, still haven't heard anything. Anyone else? I saw someone looking for spare Apple IIs on Facebook today for an exhibit at VCFMW so I was wondering if anyone else had heard anything.

iMac G4 M6498 - Anything to Watch For?

One of my friends from high school reached out to me to ask if I was interested in her old M6498, which she bought new back in 2002. I know this model can boot into OS 9, which makes me want to acquire it (I had bought an A6498 the next year and was really disappointed that it couldn't boot into...

Macintosh 12" RGB Display M1296 - Observations and Questions

As someone who has a gaggle of LCs, I also have a ton of these matching monitors. I have a few observations and also some questions pertaining to the feasibility of fixing these monitors. First, there are actually three variations of these. The earliest ones made in 1990 and into early 1991...

VRAM - more speed, or just more colors?

For the LC models in particular: - The LC and LC II (and Color Classic) come with 256K stock. This is good for 256 colors on a 12" RGB (or the CC's internal display) at a 512 x 384 resolution. Note that this is taller than the B&W compacts, which are at 512 x 342. (Proof of this is the top and...
