Apple II SCSI hard drive questions

I use a BlueSCSI with the GGLabs SCSI card (which is a clone of the Apple SCSI card). It works fine, but I am booting GSOS from a microdrive, and using the BlueSCSI as a convenient sneakernet / removeable [when the machine is off...] drive.

Building TJBoldt's ProDOS ROM Drive for Apple ][

I made an alternate ROM image for this card which contains some utilities. I will likely update it further, but full information is here: https://www.applefritter.com/content/alternate-rom-image-tjboldt-prodos-rom-drive-prodos-242-utils DOWNLOAD Latest version...

Please Help Us to Restore the Vintage Computing Federation’s IBM 1130

I have not yet personally but I would love to. It is rare that I make it to the East coast. I'm not too far from where VCF Midwest was this year, it just happened to fall on my wife's birthday this year 😅

Please Help Us to Restore the Vintage Computing Federation’s IBM 1130

Very cool. I recently purchased a membership, hopefully things like that help too. Wishing this the best of luck.

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.

I am guessing (hoping) you made that post simultaneously with my last one, but it doesn't really encourage me to be active here. Honestly I'm impressed with Mr F's grace; I would not have been so kind to have removed said screenshot. It speaks volumes to his maturity. Unless there is an...

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.

In that case I fully rescind that statement, thank you for clarifying.

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.

Editing / redacting a post with the reason of "Posting of Private messages without consent" seems absurd if that edit was done by a moderator and not the poster themselves. It does not in any way signal an anti-abuse community. It quite frankly on the surface seems as nothing but enabling of the...

Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.

Sounds like a really valid source of contention then.

    BeOS Install

The link I posted above in post No. 2 is filtered for 'ppc' results in all the BeOS software I could find. Tons of old FTP mirrors etc contained in there.

    BeOS Install

Awesome stuff! If you have not found it already, this site is a fantastic resource for BeOS software: http://pulkomandy.tk/~beosarchive/index.pl?search=ppc Noted on the main page is that the archive is (was) hosted only on his home connection. However, some time back, I offered server space...

Problem with ImageWriter II (Power Supply dead?)

A couple thoughts, unlikely, but that I have to post or I'll feel bad if it ends up being the switch; Does it do the same thump when returning the switch to the off position? And second, as a test, slowly press the power button down until a light comes on or you hear the thump, and then try to...

And while you can use a thin flathead to loosen the ICs, I have had to repair too many boards from people slipping and taking out a trace. A proper IC puller will all but eliminate that risk, for less than $10.

Rather simple procedure really. Just always watch pin1. Static grouding is always good. Then a U shape IC puller should have you in business. https://www.ebay.com/itm/311873613894

Also it should not matter if you just took two chips to fill your new card or just take 4 matching ones from the sockets on your spare IIgs card.

Should be fine just capable of a faster speed. Like using a 100ns EPROM in place of an old 150ns. As long as the response time is equal or faster to the original spec, of course it doesn't operate any faster just is compatible.

If memory serves me (pun intended), do you have a IIGS Ram expansion (original) laying around perhaps? I believe it should be the correct RAM. I may have one in storage but they are easy to come by with everyone upgrading to newer cards in their IIgs. Otherwise the RAM ICs are in stock here for...

    SCSI Drive cloning?

The BlueSCSI can take downloadable disk images, or ones you make, and assign them SCSI ID's. So you could even use 2x 1GB image files, with names like HD1.hda and HD2.hda, and the BlueSCSI will act as both of those SCSI ID's to the Mac. It's much simpler than you think.
