GCC Technologies FI/30 internal HD for Mac SE

So was that upgrade kit that Wikipedia describes basically a new logic board?

Ya. I think the "xK RAM" notations on them are just how much memory they require to run. The 16K RAM module is in that box on the upper-right.

Ordered some no-name ones on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Footprint-Dip14-3V3-5V-Crystal-Oscillator/dp/B089KGVG79/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=27+mhz+oscillator+full+can&qid=1658168069&sprefix=%2Caps%2C39&sr=8-3

I don't know if the RAM module was bundled with any of those cassetes or purchased separately.

GCC Technologies FI/30 internal HD for Mac SE

No markings, but it looks well-made...not something hacked together in a garage. It's two pieces. The drive is screwed to one piece that slides freely inside the other piece which is mounted ontop of the upper floppy drive via screws through those two tabs sticking out of the bottom and the...

GCC Technologies FI/30 internal HD for Mac SE

My SE SuperDrive had this 40MB Quantum HD installed in it on this red anodized aluminum "sled" that mounted ontop of the upper floppy drive and just barely fit under the CRT (both floppies were still installed):

I was about to start a new thread asking what this weird video cable I just found in this box of cables was

    660AV battery bomb

I guess the silver lining is this is the first system I've encountered with battery damage: The chassis is pretty much completely rusted-out. I cleaned up the logic board a bit with vinegar and isopropyl: The NuBus adapter had some damage as well. I scrubbed some of the corrosion off...

Radius SpigotPro AV...help me identify this component

I have a Radius SpigotPro AV card that was installed in a battery-bombed Quadra 660AV. The card looks OK except for a single oscillator who's casing is completely corroded: I'm trying to identify that oscillator so I can replace it. I tried removing the corrosion with no luck. The only...

...in a bunch of retro stuff I recently came into. I haven't tried it yet, and I never used one of these back in the day, but it sure is...cute.

Found DOS card in a boxed 6115 CD

I'm so jealous...my first computer when I was a kid was a 6100/66 DOS-compatible with that Houdini II card. I kept it all through college, but then stupidly got rid of it about 16 years ago. I remember also attempting to replace the 486 with one of those 133Mhz processor upgrades. I remember...

Pittsburgh, PA - anyone up for a meet sometime?

I'm also in Pittsburgh...still relatively new to this kind of stuff. Well, I mean used these systems when I was a kid, but just recently acquired a bunch of stuff that I'm having fun playing with and restoring.

    Osborne anyone?

Thanks. One of these two is interesting in that it has a homebrew 1MB RAM upgrade that my dad had a local guy perform back in the mid-80s. Probably the only one left like it. The same guy provided custom RAM-disk software with the upgrade that makes it a fairly speedy system. Just remember...

    Osborne anyone?

I'm thinking about going to Starbucks and plopping one of these down on a table amongst all the laptops and getting my WordStar on :) These both looked like the one on the left before I fixed them up:

dad asked "do you want this junk in my garage?"

So I've had this lot for awhile now and it keeps growing. My dad lives in TX and I'm in PA, so it makes its way up to me a little at a time. I unfortunately haven't cataloged everything, but here's some of what's here. Most things listed as "in-box" are not only in the original box, but also...

problem with MicroMac accelerator in SE

Yes, they are. I tore both drives down, cleaned, lubed, and replaced that ejection gear that always strips in these (a process I've now performed on five various Apple 3.5" drives). This SE also had a working 40MB Quantum HD in it, but I replaced that with a BlueSCSI. It was getting cramped...

problem with MicroMac accelerator in SE

Well, I punted on repairing this accelerator and put this cleaned and recapped SE back together without it. The logic board was pristine and retrobrighting went well...I think it came out nice: I did order one of these for when I get around to attempting to repair that accelerator board, but...
