@Zane Kaminski ROM Apple part numbers on the Q840AV are 341S0923 and 341S0924. Does the 660AV use the same ROM? If so, I would guess that the chances of success are excellent. I guess they could have programmed in a machine ID branch, but why would they?

I don't think that will be reproduceable. The Lattice CPLD probably kills the deal. The K5C80 is a Z80 compatible processor made by Kawasaki. ??! I guess Kawasaki builds everything. I loved my '78 KZ1000. The only other notable chip is the 53CF96 which cost about $15 each these days...

Dremel on a stand with a "diamond" cutting wheel might work well too. I cut paired 30-pin SIMM sockets that way.

The 64 pin SIMM socket was also used by Apple for ROM modules and, I think, by Amiga for another type of incompatible memory. Guessing, someone installed something other than a IIfx SIMM in the socket and caused a dead short from 5V to GND. Or something close to that. I have a PM9600 board...
