TwiSlot PCI Riser and ComSlot2 NIC repro in widened CS riser form factor

Methinks the problem lies within the funky Gazelle architecture, not power issues, hence that firmware upgrade. Problems with FireWire bridges and my no longer supported TEMPOtrio abound, the Alchemy architecture was solid at its 40MHz bus speed. G3 L2 accelerators and combo cards were devekoped...

TwiSlot PCI Riser and ComSlot2 NIC repro in widened CS riser form factor

Thanks for the input. I saw a similar TAM upgrade using the 6400/6500 riser almost twenty years ago. Interesting that he's using USB and SATA cards. I've got a SATA card ready to go, but I've been using a USB card for the diagrams as that's what folks expected to see five years ago. Ideally...

TwiSlot PCI Riser and ComSlot2 NIC repro in widened CS riser form factor

Last pics for the day: Mock-up in my 6360 with Sonnet Tempotrio in the top/setback slot. Card isn't supported in the funky Gazelle architecture of the TAM/5500/6500, but docs say Alchemy Macs are supported. USB, Firewire and faster ATA/133 bus all on one card. Slot connector is spaced .2"...

Someone actually made a RetroBright product, I guess it was inevitable

No doubt there, good results have been achieved with all kinds of crazy concoctions/methods . . . given enough experimentation. No fuss/no muss has a quality all its own. ;) Hopefully this is the original formulation? It's branded with the trademarked name. ISTR RetroBrite was originally...

TAM - Fatback - Printable copy & FatterBack maximum expansion Mod of baseline model?

From the pics I have on hand, in terms of size the two(?) parts seem easy enough to be printed? Repro FatBack would seem to be in some demand I'd think, many are missing and unavailable in the wild? FatterBack version would bow the curve of the hump out a bit - providing more overhead for...

TAM - Internal PicoPSU - AUX Power for Expansion Slots

Cooling in a TAM will be the sticky point, don't have one, but tinkering with a FauxProtoMac counterpart. Maximum Power spec for expansion cards in 6500: PCI Expansion Slot - PowerMac 5500-6500-DevNote The main logic board uses the industry-standard peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus...

Nice, I'll have to try to brighten up one of my Macs . . . after over two decades of collecting.

TAM - Internal PicoPSU - AUX Power for Expansion Slots

I've identified available cubic in the TAM for boosting its anemic power budget in the upper right hand corner of the red box: edit: found a far better pic of available cubic: A PicoPSU will fit nicely mounted vertically to edge of the ComSlot2 standard riser with hot glue or socketed on...

TwiSlot PCI Riser and ComSlot2 NIC repro in widened CS riser form factor

First, is the notion of powering expansion cards from an external 12V source sound like a possibility? Reports in MLA thread indicate TAM lacking power to run G3, Tango PCI and a 10/100 NIC in combination, but the Apple NIC works. That's why I'm looking at powering the twin PCI Slot card from...

This insanity started just about 5 years ago: https://68kmla.org/bb/index.php?threads/twin-pci-riser-project-for-tam-6360-5x00-single-slot-powermacs.31437/post-335299 Best explanation: TwinSlot Riser for TAM & version for 6360. Looking at having a USB connector and a 12v in jack for...

Envisio driver needed for Powerbook 100 external video card

Wow! Great pics, color me jealous. What does total Memory top off at when that card is installed? It's about the only PB100 upgrade I didn't get for BabyPB right off the bat when I bought her new. ISTR someone looking into cloning that card? If so you may be in luck finding the drivers

    Quadra 630 Restoration

I cut up the 630 chassis, but know where I keep the plastics. Its harness and the guts of its PSU and part of the housing for them were installed in a Sharp word processor/printer case that's sitting on a shelf since that Snitz era recase hack. The 630 board disappeared when I swapped it out...

9 inch Mac all in one LCD monitor adapter Bracket

If your design scales to the Macintosh Portrait Display, That would look even better next to my primary workstation's display when it finally dies. Might other 15" Monitor CRTs be compatible with the Portrait setup? One last crazy notion for this morning. 🤪 I've played with vacuum forming a...

9 inch Mac all in one LCD monitor adapter Bracket

It gets even more interesting! The 12" RGB Display for the top of the LC would be your target market. It's a perfect fit for my Lisa bezel! Is an LCD/controller combo in that size/aspect ratio available? LC puts out 640 x 480 in grayscale and resolution increase dramatically as you climb up to...

Very, very nice, will likely pick one up when it's available. One question though! Might this scale up directly to fit the bezel of the Lisa?

Radius Rocket & Radius Thunder 24/GT compatible?

Very curious, until yours, I'd not seen a 33MHZ Rocket sans heatsink? Slight clarification: As you did, I filled both of the four SIMM Banks (about $2,500 worth!) when the Rocket (in my purpose bought IIx launch pad) was a new product. As you said, that enabled interleaved memory access. ;)

Radius Rocket & Radius Thunder 24/GT compatible?

Great info, gang. Can't wait to play with mine again. @JDW looks to me that you have the 25MHz Rocket, given the lack of heatsink? If so, the power requirements ought to be lower than the 33/40MHz versions of the Rocket? Has anyone got info on the power required for the three versions?
