Need Advice: I Want To Add An SSD To My G4 Mirror Door & Install OS 9 On It

AFAIK, the only MDD that can boot into OS9 natively is the FW400 released just for that very purpose. Which version do you have there? If it's FW800 you're stuck with OS9 running in emulation or Classic(?) or whatever you call is. I call it FAUX9

    Ode to the PowerBook 100

*** PowerBook RAM limitations deserve a dedicated post. The PowerBook 100 was unique. Using RAMdisk+ combined with my maxed out 8MB memory configured BabyPB was a dream. Its battery backed, persistent memory was an amazing feature. In 1991 a PowerBook didn't really need more than 4MB of memory...

    Ode to the PowerBook 100

The PowerBook 100 TrackBall diameter, handiness is far, far superior to the big ball series. I used the 100 IRL, but not any of the full size models. When I collected my first pick of the full size series PowerBook 150*** or handled the RAM limited PowerBook 100's contemporaries the ball didn't...

    Ode to the PowerBook 100

I have a soft spot for it too, but because it was the first victim I acquired for my still unrealized MacAntFarm project. Brought the sucker back to life along with the several other victims that followed . . . drat the luck! Unlike the 5300 PPC iteration its case and internal config allow...

    Ode to the PowerBook 100

Forgot to mention that I'd figured the 100 in SCSI Disk Mode would be replacing the 1GB HDD I'd been lugging between the shop and home in a big blue Makita toolbox along with my briefcase/bag. Others couldn't do that until the 180! :D Maxed BabyPB out with 8MB, 270MB HDD, SCSI Case for its OEM...

    Pi5 and PowerBook FDD bay insanity . . .

. . . title says it all, but a lot of different projects intertwined. I've long wondered about stuffing something interesting into the FDD bay. Big question would be whether or not a PowerBook can be convinced to act as a display for Pi5 via SCSI input. That'd be a ScuzzyGraph in reverse...

    Ode to the PowerBook 100

Same here, but a brand new, remaindered PowerBook 100 was my first laptop (notebook) computer and I still madly in love with those in my collection. Nothing like the 100 until Apple demo'd the Duo System at a NYMUG meeting, but I thought I'd never be able to afford one. I only switched to a...

Design68: A 65% replacement keyboard using AppleDesign controllers

If it's no biggie, could you further explain the ramifications of that differential for the project? What might be done to rectify any such problems? Don't want to throw us into an unnecessary tangential discussion.

Design68: A 65% replacement keyboard using AppleDesign controllers

VERY cool! Was thinking along these lines a LONG time ago, but back-burnered because I wondered how the flex switches differed electrically from mechanical switches? Might there be a problem with such, if so?

@max1zzz thanks so much for the layers of your IIcx Redux. I've reconstructed the traces/chips/pads for the three signals that meander down off NUCHIP in the NuBus section of the Bomarc Schematic. Trying to figure out where ARST, LO0 and HI0 go and what they are doing? Some of the circuit...

A little last revision eye candy in the case that NUCHIP injection proves impossible: Clean slate for the Radius IIsi NuBus Adapter rework approach: Form factor is frozen and in the can! Here's proof of fitment and the card I'd be tempted to use if I had 040 Accelerator and GS Cards...

Done playing with form factors, time to get on with the technical hurdles: First approximation: I was hoping that patching the three VIA2 signals to the three reserved pins on the SE/30 PDS would be sufficient. Out of curiosity, are those pins grounded. Can't find my continuity tester ATM...

Just ordered the PGA adapter, so I can get started with manual board layout once I'm sure of the pinout! :) PGA Socket supplier has a $30 minimum purchase, so I've a bit of shopping to do.

I found a couple of interesting tidbits tonight during downtime at work: https://www.proto-advantage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=4610006 https://www.proto-advantage.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=2620006 I think this might be the right size, less the four corner pins it...
