Connecting a Mouse to a Toshiba Libretto

I absolutely love my Toshiba Libretto 50CT, but it has one major flaw: there's no way to connect a mouse without a bulky (and rare) expansion dock. I've theorized two possible ways: 1: Solder in a PS/2 to USB Adapter This would be an internal modification, where the PS/2 adapter would be...

Massive Vintage Apple Haul in Idaho

Item Spotlight: ImageWriter II Item #130 This very nice ImageWriter II was given to me a couple of years ago, and has been sitting on my workbench ever since! I have no idea about it's operating condition, but it appears to be in very nice shape. It absolutely needs a good cleaning. This one...

Massive Vintage Apple Haul in Idaho

Item Spotlight: Polycarbonate MacBook Item #45 This didn't actually come with the pile, but it came to me at about the same time! It has a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, the original media remote, comes in the original box (although it seems to be missing the upper half of packing material), and comes...

Massive Vintage Apple Haul in Idaho

Hi everyone, I am already using Pirate Ship and I do compare rates for every shipment. I have several reasons for preferring USPS that I don’t think are relevant for discussion here. Thanks.

Massive Vintage Apple Haul in Idaho

I am very happy to report that the 840AV is going to a close friend of mine, the kind of friend who sends you a new-in-box SE/30 Ethernet card just because. I will say that a nice bottle of whiskey was also exchanged. :) I couldn't be happier about how it turned out.

    Idaho Apple Haul Hard Drives?

In my recent vintage Apple haul, there are at least 120 loose hard drives. A bunch of them are attached to Macintosh LC-style brackets: And a bunch more are attached to hard drive sleds: ...and that's just a few of them, there are two more crates jam-packed with drives! I've had requests...

SE/30 SCSI LED blinking and not booting

I found the problem! The SCSIDACK line between the SCSI and GLUE was not connected. After adding a bodge, it's working perfectly now! Although I kinda wish I'd routed the bodge wire differently to have only one 90° turn... but the board is on it's way to the owner now, so that's that!

Borrow Apple Adjustable Keyboard Wrist Rests

Possible, but so far, I've found that scanning apps are better at creating likenesses than actual copies, especially on parts that don't have a lot of geometry. I'm a lot more confident about hand-modeling the parts.

Borrow Apple Adjustable Keyboard Wrist Rests

Sweet, I'll send you a DM! There is no urgency on this. Great question. I probably can't get them perfect, but here's what I'll do: 1. Take photos on the X, Y, and Z axis 2. Import the photos to Fusion 360 3. Scale the photos to a scale inside the application 4. Draw 2D sketches of the X, Y...

SE/30 SCSI LED blinking and not booting

I am working on an SE/30 logic board for a friend. I bought the SE/30 in working condition about 1.5 or 2 years ago, and after testing it, "decapped" and cleaned the logic board for storage. Recently, I recapped the logic board and fixed a bad video muxer, but found that SCSI does not seem to...

Borrow Apple Adjustable Keyboard Wrist Rests

My Apple Adjustable Keyboard is missing the wrist rests. They look like they would be very easy to 3D print, but I don't have the parts to reference. Would anyone be willing to lend theirs to me for modeling? I would post the source files for anyone to modify and print, and I would probably also...

Massive Vintage Apple Haul in Idaho

Oh, hi! I'm finally back with another update. Over the past couple of weeks, I've been trying to get out to the garage every day to do a bit more organizing, testing, and cataloging. "The pile" (as we've come to call it) is more compact than it used to be, thanks to some cleaning and...

    SE/30 No Video After Recap

My Chip Quik showed up, so I popped both UE8 and UD8. Since I had some spare F253 Multiplexers on hand, I replaced UD8. I didn't have a space UE8 on hand. A couple of the pads ripped up with my desoldering - hard to say if that was my fault, the cap juice's fault, or both. Either way, I soldered...

Massive Vintage Apple Haul in Idaho

Hey everyone, quick update! I'm still here, and still have the collection. Summer has just proven to be extremely busy with a job change, a couple business trips, a sibling's wedding, and a robotics competition with my daughter (side note: she's learning C at 11 years old!). At this point, 90...

    SE/30 No Video After Recap

I'll do that next. I've ordered a re-supply of Chip Quik so I can pop those IC's off and check everything around them.
