    Quantum ProDrive 80S Troubleshooting

How's this? Also exhibiting a new behavior. (The clacking is the arm knocking into the PLCC.)

    Quantum ProDrive 80S Troubleshooting

Thanks for the reply, but as already stated, I've already dealt with the stiction and the arm is moving freely, so I know that's not the issue. Since I can't seem to upload the video I took, the arm performs a smooth but narrow scanning motion for a bit, then attempts a seek (or some other...

    Quantum ProDrive 80S Troubleshooting

Hello, I'm currently trying to resurrect a Quantum ProDrive 80S that came with a Mac II I bought recently. The drive itself is not actually important to me, and so this is more of a technical challenge than anything else. I've already dealt with the arm stiction by applying some electrical...

What is the most dependable, long last compact mac?

A Plus, especially a later one which has better components on the analogue board, is pretty reliable, especially if you can get a fan attachment, or mod one in. If you have an earlier Plus, and it's otherwise functioning, I highly recommend following the guidance in Macintosh Repair & Upgrade...

    SCSI Floppy Drives

I mean that's basically what happens when you use a floppy disk or zip drive on a modern computer with usb. It doesn't recognize it for what it is, it just mounts as a generic drive.

What Beige Apple ADB keyboards/mice am I missing?

Just got myself the Kensington ADB numpad, the "NoteBook KeyPad", so that I could upload its exclusive software "Adding Machine" to the garden! Check it out here: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/adding-machine

WarpSE: 25 MHz 68HC000-based accelerator for Mac SE

Would it not be possible to have some sort of "tuner" that allowed the end user to finely adjust to their specific machine's video clock speed, if it's that variable? I am not an engineer, so forgive my naivité!

    SCSI Floppy Drives

If you can somehow track one down, early SuperDisk drives were offered in SCSI, which, in addition to reading SuperDisks (LS-120), would also be able to read standard floppies (1.4MB only). There was also apparently a Floptical drive from Iomega? Don't quote me on that one.

Are the mechanicals complicated, or is it just a matter of the windings themselves that prevents people from fabbing new ones themselves?

@Kai Robinson had previously let me know about www.peconnectors.com (Phoenix Enterprises), based in Chatsworth, Southern California, from whom I was able to order dual vertical 30-pin SIMM slots for my Mac II, though they do have a minimum order amount of $30 US.

What may I ask contributes the most to the cost of the device? (Obviously I'm sure the labor involved in creating it is reason enough!)
