ROM Clips for securing custom ROM SIMMs in an SE/30

@PotatoFi You just posted some incredibly helpful information! The licensing change especially will help encourage availability of the ROM Clips because Sharealike allows for "commercial use" (with attribution). Thank you very much for providing all those details!

ROM Clips for securing custom ROM SIMMs in an SE/30

Forgive me, Colin, one quick question. You didn't mention "Resin." Would Resin/SLA be just as suitable for these ROM Clips as an FDM like PLA/ABS/ASA? The reason I ask is because JLCPCB's 3D printing service complains the ROM Clips are too small for FDM printing! I am able to choose from...

ROM Clips for securing custom ROM SIMMs in an SE/30

67 views but no replies as of this writing indicates I have asked an especially challenging set of questions. 🤔 Due to the lack of replies, I will now tag a few highly-informed people who might know the answers put forth in my opening post... @alxlab @Androda @Ron's Computer Videos...

    J21 breakout adapters

I don’t have much experience with those power supplies, so I don’t really have a preference. Small yet powerful enough is about all I can say. But if you would be so kind as to put together a second kit for me, I would be more than happy to buy that from you! :-) Buying a complete kit from the...

    J21 breakout adapters

Thank you for the information, Ron! Yes, I would prefer a solution for an SE/30 motherboard that is pretty much the same as the solution for the Mac Plus motherboard shown in Adrian‘s video. Not needing the analog board or stock CRT at all is the real benefit here.

    J21 breakout adapters

@Ron's Computer Videos Adrian's kit for the Mac Plus is shown in his new video at the 12:16 timestamp below... That kit with onboard ATX power supply attaches directly to the main motherboard connector, then he adds a 12V power source to it, and then he attaches an RGB-to-HDMI adapter, which...

    J21 breakout adapters

Thanks, Ron. I look forward to getting my hands on one. I will also need to acquire one of those OSSC/RetroTrink/RGBtoHDMI as I've never used any of those either.

    J21 breakout adapters

@Ron's Computer Videos I've been checking Joe's Shop daily, but I'm not seeing that nifty little device appear. When is the official release date? Also, if you or Joe have a video or even a text writeup about it, that would certainly be helpful to illustrate what it is and why it is useful...

ROM Clips for securing custom ROM SIMMs in an SE/30

I am posting this in the Compact Mac sub-forum because most of us tend to use custom ROM SIMMs on the SE/30. I've been doing the prep work for a video about the ROM SIMM Programmer and ROM SIMMs currently sold today. One big issue is the thickness of the ROM SIMMs and the finicky nature of the...

BlueSCSI v2 Pico - Low cost, open hardware, fast SCSI device!

I must say that size reduction is impressive. Your new v2 DB24 seems to be roughly the same size as the v1.1 DB25, as per my observation of Kay Koba's photo here... Great job! I look forward to seeing that the 3D printed case designs will look like.

Newer Technology SCSI Dart / SCSIdart driver or software

@Mac84 So, were you really able to cut 4 to 10 hours of database file reindexing down to only 10 minutes? :) Seriously, if you have a video out on that I would love to see it. Didn't find it on your channel page when I checked just now, but maybe I over looked it. One video I did find though...

GOTCHAS when buying a Macintosh Portable?

That raises the question about cost and what is deemed "overpriced" though. The advice being given here is that "even if there's a working battery, unless the machine has been recapped, it's best if the seller does NOT try to power it on." And so, if they don't test it, it could have dead...

GOTCHAS when buying a Macintosh Portable?

Thank you for the excellent feedback! I now have 2 questions... 1. So the 5126 doesn't have a "Hybrid" and therefore is perhaps a better choice than the 5120 model Portable? 2. What causes the SWIM chip to die? Cap goo? If prices are that low in Switzerland, I need to acquire one from...

GOTCHAS when buying a Macintosh Portable?

I am curious what issues people need to be aware of when buying a Macintosh Portable, especially the backlit model (5126). I realize Portables won't power on without a good battery, but new batteries like this are sold on EBAY. Maybe some of you can share experiences with those. I also realize...

Calling all Hackers — Mod the HD20 INIT code?

Folks, I discovered something new with my SE/30 & FloppyEMU last night. I reported it to Steve Chamberlin of BMOW, and he kindly wrote back with the answer. I thought it might be a situation where some of you vintage Mac hackers might get some kicks out of this. BACKGROUND As you know, the...

MacSD - SCSI to SD adapter with CD audio, MIDI and fan control

@YMK Sorry if this is written somewhere, but what are all the file types that your Commander app can understand? Your screenshot only shows SIT files. But can pretty much any file be downloaded from Macintosh Garden be placed in the root (or directory of one's choice) on a properly...

My little guide on RGBTOHDMI installed on Classic, Plus, etc.

@Mu0n, I saw your reply under this FB post by @Ron's Computer Videos today, which brought me back to this thread. I re-watched the Adrian's Digital Basement video you linked in your opening post and noticed that during his Crystal Quest game play, the display is stretched vertically. Note how...

    SE/30 RAM Banking QUESTION

Yes, I am using a stock SE/30 ROM because most people use a stock ROM rather than the BMOW version. I have a ROM-inator II MEGA (8MB edition), but I didn't test my RAM configs with that, for the reason that most people probably wouldn't have that ROM. But it would be an interesting test to see...
